I have heard said that the ms school coach is the second most important person in the program. He can set you back 2 years or push you forward 2 years. Are some programs lackluster? You better believe it and that happens when coaches are turned over quickly with very little help or budget given to a program. Some programs are able to make the 4 team middle school work: usually urban area with other schools that can cooperate. In rural ky with a small school you're looking at having to play other counties. Want to make you kids hate football: split your talent in a fourth and play county schools. I know this system works for Highlands and that's good for them, but I would highly doubt most schools could find 4 quality coaching staffs

Green county hasn't been in for at least 3 years. No commercial good luck in your state semis or region finals.

LOL none of those teams have won a kymsfa championship. Great you got Wayne, who started to be a powerhouse once their teams started having success in KyMsFA.

Make them real then. I'll tell you this kids you're gonna face from Lville Central, lex cath, pad tighlman, and if you can make it to Belfry,have competed in these imaginary games.

I think Taylor can compete for 2nd and host Knox/Rock/Wayne in the playoffs, but I think their seasons ends there in 2015.

Louisville Central is little different for country kids. 1. In downtown Lville in somewhat of a tough neighborhood (especially if you take a wrong turn) 2. Blaring unedited rap songs lol. 3. Cold wind coming off the river. Not to mention the great band!

4A has an interesting storyline with John Hardin and Johnson Central. Two strong hs football programs that couldn't get over the hump of the powerhouse programs in front of them. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4 straight title games featuring both of these teams. I doubt there will be a year when at least one isn't in it.

I expect this Somerset team to make a push. If they can keep everybody's head screwed on right the talent is there especially with Doan back.

I highly doubt Williamsburg will play it, but it would be good for both teams.

Wayne should be better than Taylor, and in the cross district. IMO they may cause Mercer more trouble than Taylor

I agree with this. I would hate to exclude teams that can play and want to play because there are some teams can't and don't want to play.

I tell you what it shows: how difficult cops have it dealing with the idiots of this world. They don't know if these guys are stoned or dangerous. As far as this situation goes, it looks like a hs game and they should have him with the bus.

Yes and we rarely need new anything, but I ask where is that money going if you don't put it back in the facilities. Fair to say between the schools: 150 football players middle and high. 80 soccer players boys and girls 100 band members That's about 20% of population not counting any other benefit it may have. Not sure other than remodeling front doors, English classrooms, or cafeteria you may get that same benefit to the schools.

Every ONE story like this ruins the credibility of the rest of the fb coaches across the state when they go to admins looking for more for their teams or maybe just a little raise for themselves that might bring them to min wage of 1975 coaching football.

Guys I'm struggling to come up with a regional team that has more than one feeder middle school: Harlan. Maybe somebody can straighten me out but I don't think I'd use that when everybody around you has the same thing.

Many have said turf is cheaper than grass in the long haul. BOTH have expected turf and have done very little spring work to prep. Neither may have a playoff type field.

I would think a young asst looking for a teaching and coaching job will go just about anywhere. My school has had one applicant in 10 years and posted a job about every year. Hired that guy and he's been there since.

go to the next school. If there were +45 head coach openings there is double that or more for assts with teaching jobs.

The listserv is full of schools looking for asst coaches offering teaching jobs. Pretty sure those coaches have gotten permission from principals. I don't think it's the schools and administration. I believe those people aren't there to hire as qualified teachers and coaches.

Guys let's be realistic over the past half century the role of men has changed in the family. With a great percentage of women in the workforce , young family guys don't have the time to take on jobs that pay like hobbies, yet require more time than teaching. Add this to the factors of increased responsibility in education, and sometimes it's just easier to get a job in the public, go home at the end of the day, and sit in the stands on Friday night.

Is it the schools or the profession? I think teaching and coaching ain't the gig it was 10-20 years ago.
