What does Rockcastle County need to do to improve in 2015? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Let's hear it Mountain Ref. :)

We have almost everyone back and will have almost everyone back next year. We have added a new coach form Clay Co and we are looking to run more. We return a super TB and will only be a 10th grader.

THE defense will be different, not sure what they are going to do just yet, pretty sure we will stop teams from running on us.

Depth shouldnt be a problem

Got a new weight room

New dist which will be competitive with Knox, and Wayne. But we have a cake walk in the region until we get to perhaps Johnson Cent. But that will be the Semis.

I as most fully expect to win at least 8 games. If not then most are going to view this as a disappointment.

Wayne and Knox will both be good and perhaps Russell County will get back to their winning ways. At first blush many will agree the region is cakewalk, but I suspect Buchanan will have Mercer improved and a full year of Hilton at Taylor County will help them, too.

Love that program, or maybe it's the relationship I have with Lake Cumberland that makes me love that program, either way :lol2: Kind of a "What came first, the Chicken or the Egg" question there. But, I think Russell County is in a little bit of a lull for another year or so. I know the last few years didn't really help them with their scheduling, despite just snagging one game last year. They'll be back, solid again...but, it's going to be another year or two I believe.

Yes please do.

I hope you are right.

It doesn't feel right with Rockcastle not being one of the premier powerhouses in the area. If what you are proclaiming is true it sounds like Rock will have a tough run defense and a dangerous running game on offense and should have it the next tow years. That smells like vintage Rock football... and will be a welcome sight.

ATLCat,

I totally agree that it does not feel right especially with the program having the success it did for a couple decades and even that much more in the early 2000's. Not every Rockcastle County supporter will gt on here and give their opponents fodder to use as motivation. This team is still fairly young as far as grade level goes but with the coaching staff biting the bullet two years ago and starting as many freshman as they did, they have set themselves up to be a pretty experienced team come the start of the season. The biggest thing that cost them success last season was the injuries that key contributors sustained.

The Rockets might not be the biggest team out there but they will work their tails off and with a running back group that will contain Brent Lovell, Austin Mills, Holdan Barnett, Devon Robinson, Dalton Rowe, and Dylan Rowe, look for the team to go back to smashmouth brand of football that Rockcastle fans are accustomed to. From the KHSAA roster, the team will only have a total of THREE seniors so if this season's team doesn't make noise in the postseason, look for the team next season to follow up with a stellar season.

My biggest worries are how will the team handle five of its first six games on the road and without having a bye week, how will they handle not having an off week to get their bodies ready for district play. Yes the longest road trip will only be to either Wayne County or Knox Central, but its still not like playing in front of your home crowd. The guys will be battle tested and I envision a really good season. There is only one game that I don't see them winning and that is Pulaski County. With that having been said, I can see Rockcastle County having a regular season record anywhere from 9-1 to 5-5. It all just depends on how healthy the guys and get and how they handle themselves in big games.

Rockcastle plays at Danville in the Bob Allen Pigskin Classic. We will see if Danville can stop the run this year or not right off the top. If not I can see Rock blowing them out with three or more running backs going over 100 yds.

Danville is Danville and they will always have talent. It will just be a factor of can they harness it all together at the right time. I don't see this being a blowout as Agent33 says, but I do see if as being something that can be over quick if Rockcastle County can control the clock as they did in a bunch of their games. Only time will tell how each team's conditioning will be a factor with the always high August humidity but Danville will have a game under their belts so who know how things will go.

Best of luck to both teams!!
