LaSalle will also be playing for a state title this weekend with their GCL rival Elder playing for one too. CCH would fit in easily in an interstate GCL South Conference if that could ever happen.
It is sad but I have seen low attendance numbers at several games this year. Being just across the river from Cincinnati where playoff games sell out, it makes you wonder if NKY schools just aren't into football anymore.
It has been said that Boyle County is the best team overall in the state and this shouldn't be much of a test for them. I have seen Scott play and they do have some bright spots but this will be a running clock win for Boyle County.
I agree 100% with you on this. The JR class does have some good talent but as a whole in middle school through the 9th grade they just didn’t have any depth to be a winning team. The SR class is a whole different story and we’re very good due to their depth but they eventually lost some kids that lost interest and others that peaked and didn’t progress.
Some kids just peak early. Some kids just get better as time goes on with their growth. Some are late bloomers. You can’t assume a group is always going to be better than their competitors.
That 2016 Ryle team was really the best of the best in the county but if they would have had a few of the Cooper and Conner kids from that senior group as well, they would have been near impossible to stop.
Injuries really hurt that team down the stretch.
Going into the season, I thought they were a 6-4 team but key injuries to QB Lyons and 2-way threat E.Cusick turned them into the 5-5 team that they were.
Ryle had 3 outstanding classes in a row (2015-2017), they really haven't had that many great football players gathered together since. Now the next few years might get closer to those years but maybe not.
I am thinking that Dixie is getting into a stride right now and that they can get the upset.
It really will come down to penalties and game management.
I have been saying that Ryle needed other skill players to complement England. Unfortunately none materialized. Making the team look very one dimensional.
The defense seemed to regress the last couple games as well.
