KFCA | Kentucky Football Coaches Association

Congrats to all the coaches and players.

It bothers me that every year they seem to give it to the best college prospect as opposed to who had the best year.

Vito Tisdale didn’t get it in his district which surprised me.

Congratulations to Coach Champlin of East Carter on the well deserved recognition for the job he did this year. There are some good coaches in that district, but Coach of the Year in 3A District 7 went to the right man.

Not that Reese Smith is any slouch but, for the reason you mention, I'm surprised to see that Beau Allen didn't win POY in his District (4A, D5).

I’m not. Reese Smith was the correct choice.

Are only these kids eligible for the KFCA Mr. Football award?

Was there more of a lock to win this award than 5A-D5?

No, the 6A District 6 player is actually a freshman.

Could you be more specific so we may know the validity of your protest?

That is pretty awesome.

No disrespect to Michael Mayer but I think Jared Hicks from Conner should have won his district’s award.

IMO, Tisdale hasn’t done anything to stand out this season. While he has only played a handful of snaps on offense, defense is his specialty. I think he’s been less than stellar there. Evan Spader is very deserving of this award.

Who votes on these and who determines who the nominees are?

How?
