Ryle 2 Covington Catholic 0
It's the worst call I've seen in 10 years.

Ryle 2 Covington Catholic 0
Correct score but numerous varsity kids playing JV for Ryle. I was there for the JV game and afterwards when varsity was warming up I noticed that Ryle only had 12 field players on varsity. Thought that was odd until about half the JV joined them.

Ryle 2 Covington Catholic 0
A poor offensive showing by CCH, although they did have 2 off the post. Ryle scored in the first half on a ball just flipped up high that came down about 7-8 yards in front of the CCH goal. CCH keeper froze and the defender couldn't clear it and it was poked in by Ryle. Second Ryle goal came via PK. Ryle free kick from about 35 yards floated in front of the CCH goal. CCH keeper comes to play the ball and collides with a Ryle player and somehow a PK is given. One of the most bizarre calls I've seen in a long time. In the end, if you can't score you won't be around long come postseason.

Well done by the Colonels. Nice answer to the cute little Beechwood music pre-game video. LOL

Covington Catholic v. Ryle Predictions
For CCH, a large part of playing well is having everyone they need on the field and more importantly, in the right place on the field. All the pieces are there.

Freshman Regionals
I don't follow what this has to do with anything. Unless you are in an academy, you would normally play frosh soccer if you are in fact a freshman in high school, regardless of your birth year. CCH has 29 freshmen playing soccer so I doubt this rule change is the reason for so few freshmen playing at Ryle.

Covington Catholic v. Ryle Predictions
CCH has scored 49 goals on the season but 30 of those goals have come in three games vs. some of the weakest teams in N. Kentucky. In their other 10 matches they have scored a total of 19 goals, which does not bode well for them against a strong defensive team like Ryle. On the other hand, Ryle has scored a total of 31 goals against all competition and they seem to struggle a bit offensively as well. I'd be surprised if either team puts up more than two goals in this game. I will go with CCH 2-1. The game is going to be played on the large Ryle field and I think that plays to CCH's advantage. I also liked a coupe of the wrinkles they threw in last night vs. Dixie that I hope we see more of in the future.

Ryle 1 Cooper 0
I think that Ryle is good defensively but is a bit offensively challenged from what I've heard and Cooper has a pretty solid defense so I expected a low scoring match in this one.

Beechwood/Covington Catholic Predictions
Not sure anyone has answered this yet but I did see Ziggy wearing a boot going into school today so not sure what his status is for the game.

Is that a Twitter feed?

Anything new? This is probably the game of the night.

Freshman Regionals
He's out the last I heard.

Freshman Regionals
I counted 18 eighth graders on a frosh roster of 25. I'm not sure why N. Ky teams don't just go back to a varsity/jv team only if the don't have the numbers.

Highlands 2 Covington Catholic 1
Sounds to me like the Highlands fans/players have already counted you guys out of the equation. That's unfortunate.

Freshman Regionals
I don't see him listed on Ryle's frosh team, which actually consists of mostly 8th graders and not actual freshmen.

It's fun to talk about the old days...

Holy Cross High School
Who is coaching HC these days?

Cooper 4 Beechwood 0
I thought they were discussed. Where are they playing now?
-
Freshman Regionals
Yes, I knew the answer before asking it. Since the JV regional is also coming up, we will see this issue come up again at that point.

Freshman Regionals
LOL. I had completely forgotten about this incident. If I recall, Scott had a bunch of varsity kids playing in the JV regional and they still lost. Along the way, one of their varsity kids got a red card in the JV game. The former coach saw it acceptable to play the same kid in a varsity game either that day or the next......where he got red carded again if memory serves me. Classy.

Ballard 2 Kentucky Country Day 0
Actually expected this to be a higher margin. I was not impressed with KCD when they played CCH earlier in the year and figured Ballard would blow them out.
-
Cooper 4 Beechwood 0
Cooper had a couple kids playing two years ago that were pretty good players as well but couldn't stay on the field (or the team) due to issues they had but I think this is a safe assumption.

Highlands 2 Covington Catholic 1
I'm glad that my comments spurred you to sign up and make your very first post. Congrats on that milestone, but we'll have to disagree on the definition of "very good team". I didn't think either team looked particularly good in the first half but perhaps that changed in the second half. The first half was a lot of kicking the ball up the field and chasing it by both teams. Neither team will go far with that approach. As an aside, scroll down and review my take on the CCH/Trinity game in which I say that Trinity has a nice team (which they do). If I think an opposing team looks good, I'll say that but not just to keep the soccer moms in the audience happy.

Highlands 2 Covington Catholic 1
So, were the goals scored off of headers? Corner kicks, free kicks, etc?
