Freshman Regionals
I'm not sure that anybody other than the frosh really care who wins the frosh tournament as all teams play it differently. Does anyone remember who won it last year and if so, how good is their varsity team this year? Does it translate?

Holmes 3 Dixie Heights 0
I don't think any shots are directed at Holmes, I'm just saying that Boone and Dixie in particular seem to be down this year. I'm not sure I can remember when, if ever, Holmes has beaten Dixie in soccer but maybe it's happened recently. This may very well be Holmes best team in recent memory but I've not seen them play yet.

Highlands 2 Covington Catholic 1
Only caught the first half of this game and it was tied 0-0 at half. It appeared that CCH had all the possession that they wanted in the first half if they'd only tried to do that but it was direct attack after direct attack. Was surprised to hear HHS scored twice in the second half as they didn't look too dangerous in the first half. Would like to hear how the goals were scored on both sides.

Dixie, Boone and Conner are all really struggling this year it looks like. It wasn't all that long ago that Dixie and Boone were both solid programs. Boone won the region a few years ago. Conner was always pretty good too. My guess is in the case of Boone/Conner it is demographics. Club players are moving to the newer areas and they are served by Ryle/Cooper. Dixie probably a bit of the same thing but I'm not sure.

Soccer Statistical Leaders (Sept. 8)
Now that I'm in broadcasting, my opinion carries extra weight.
-
All Time Scoring Leader
I think a lot of these stats need to be taken with a grain of salt, considering the competition and in the case of assists, who is keeping the stats. I also don't know how up to date these are really or who submits them. Jeremy Robertson has 146 victories combined at Highlands/CCH and I don't see him on the list of all time wins for coaches.

Only a goofball coach allows that to happen multiple times in my opinion. Did Scott's former coach move south?

Freshman Regionals
Keep in mind that CCH has three frosh playing JV but other schools probably do as well. As is always the case, they will not bring these frosh down to play the freshman regional and rightly so. I think the game today between Highlands/CCH frosh should be a good indicator of how these teams will fare in the tournament.

I can't say I disagree with your statement. Hard to figure this out.

Covington Catholic v Highlands Predictions.
If everyone is healthy for CCH I think they will win this game. When CCH plays with intensity like they did last night they are not an easy team to beat. 3-1 CCH.
-
Covington Catholic 1 Trinity 1
Yes, shorter bench for CCH. CovCath is very well conditioned and several players did not leave the field.
-
Covington Catholic 1 Trinity 1
Trinity scores with 4 minutes left in the first half and CCH answers with Wulfeck goal 2 minutes later. Scoreless second half. CCH probably lucky to get out with a tie. Trinity has a nice team.

CovCath/Trinity Predictions
You would think so based on the Ballard score but I expect a close game. CCH will need a couple goals to win I think.

CovCath/Trinity Predictions
This is a rematch of the state quarterfinals from 2015 that was won 2-1 by CCH on their way to the state title. Both teams lost a ton of talent so the question is who reloads the best. Trinity comes in undefeated at 5-0-1 and CCH is at 7-2-1 and the game is at Trinity, Saturday at 6:00 pm. CCH internet radio will be streaming it live here: Covington Catholic High School Trinity is supposed to be streaming the video live here:

Covington Catholic 5 McNicholas (Ohio) 2
I'd say some of the mixed lineups are due to some injuries but I'd agree that as the season wears on it should settle down. I'd love to see them beat Trinity but I really think they'll have trouble scoring against them but I could be wrong.

Covington Catholic 5 McNicholas (Ohio) 2
Stava did play but did not start the game. McNick jumped out to a 1-0 lead after scoring on a poorly defended corner kick. CCH answered with three goals by Wulfeck, Lamb and Bradley to take a 3-1 lead at halftime. Did not catch the second half. CCH started to move the ball a bit better as the half wore on but to me, it does not appear to be an effective attack against a good team but we'll find out Saturday at Trinity. Another jumbled lineup for CCH in this one. I'm very surprised that junior Thomas Cody has not seen any time in goal for the Colonels. I think for most observers he's the best keeper they have but apparently the coaches do not think so.

Covington Catholic 5 McNicholas (Ohio) 2
A win for CCH but sloppy in my opinion. No way McNick should score twice on them. Offensively they did a few nice things but they have shown an ability to score against weaker teams.

Cooper at St. Henry Predictions
This is a tough game to predict. St. Henry has really underperformed expectations in my opinion with all the returning seniors but I'd say that their staff is smart enough to double-mark Snow all night and hold Cooper to one goal in a 2-1 St. Henry victory.
-
St. Xavier 6 Ballard 2
Impressive result for St. X given what Ballard did with a pretty good CCH team on Tuesday night. 7th region is going to be a real dogfight to get out of later this year.
-
Ballard 3 Covington Catholic 0
LOL, I can only imagine but I do agree that offensively this team is very easy to defend when facing a quality team. Way too much individual play and not enough sharing of the ball. I also think that particularly as it relates to the outside backs of CCH, they are not getting enough numbers forward in the attack. A very static offense with very little movement off the ball.
-
Ballard 3 Covington Catholic 0
Disappointing result for CCH I'm sure as their offensive struggles continue against quality teams. Third shutout this year I believe but a bit more surprising is giving up the three goals, which is a high water mark for them defensively this year.
