  1. And for the record, CCH radio logged their largest soccer audience, matching the listener audience they had for the CCH/Highlands football game.
  2. As time was slipping away in the second half, a couple of the Collegiate players would throw the ball to CCH players (when the ball went out of bounds for CCH throw ins) trying to keep the game going. Let's just say they were tossing it with a little too much velocity. They lost a little composure I thought. CCH conceded a lot of possession after their early score and Collegiate didn't play with much urgency at all. Collegiate went to 3-5-2 in the second half and CCH countered by going to 4-5-1 the entire second half. Collegiate couldn't solve it and seemed reluctant to serve balls from the outside. Haji was a non-factor most of the game. CCH defense just too good and fast for Collegiate to solve. Going to 3 defenders vs CCH it's just a matter of time before Lamb gets through and that happened with a couple minutes left.
  3. Winner of North Hardin/Perry County Central being played today.
  4. Colonels get bookend goals 2 minutes into the game and again with 2 minutes left in the game and in between a dominating defensive effort on their way to the state semi-finals for the second year in a row. Goals by Wulfeck and Lamb.
  5. I don't disagree but he's out of town and like the football game last night, he will have someone filling in for him today.
  6. This game will also be carried live on CovCath Internet Radio Covington Catholic High School
  7. This game will be played Saturday at noon at Lafayette High School in Lexington.
  8. I wouldn't get too ahead of ourselves as I'd think Dunbar and Daviess County will have something to say about the state title regardless of who wins this matchup.
  9. Tall order for the Colonels in this one as Collegiate appears to be a goal scoring machine. CCH defense will have to be solid and if they hold Collegiate to a couple of goals then CCH has a chance I think. Midfield battle will be key in this game and CCH will need someone other than Schutt to start winning some 50/50 balls in the middle of the field. Biggest question in my mind is, can CCH score on Collegiate? They've given up 15 goals all season and only once have they given up more than one. Time for the top CCH players to stand up if they want to advance.
  10. Looks like Daviess County beat them already in the regular season 4-0.
  11. The exclusion of one of the best players from the best team in the region show what a politically correct farce this list has become. Every team gets a spot!
  12. Perhaps I missed it but Cole Stava from CCH does not garner even an honorable mention or am I looking past it?
  13. Location is still TBD but I believe it is in Lexington someplace.
  14. I believe with the new rule where official time is kept on the field, this is probably the correct call. In the past, you'd have had more referee discretion but this sounds correct to me.
  15. Colonels will face Collegiate on Saturday in Lexington. Should be a great game.
  16. Colonels really dominated this game IMO. 3 or 4 scoring chances for Mercer but that's it. Great defensive effort with goals by Schutt, Deimling and Lamb.
  17. The WJ keeper really won this game for her team, not only in PK's but with a couple of really nice saves in regulation. NDA scores in the second half about halfway through and then completely loses focus and gives up the equalizer less than a minute later. WJ has a few nice players but NDA should have won this game IMO. Their injuries have really limited them on offense as they didn't seem to have much speed up top. Tierney should have had the ball more and should have moved to the center of the field to get more touches. Clearly NDA's most dangerous player, she was stuck at outside mid the whole night with limited touches.
  18. One of the more interesting first round matchups. I believe Campbell County has a chance to pull the upset here but I'll go with Dunbar 3-1.
  19. Maybe it's been posted but what is the start time of this game?
  20. Tough to predict not knowing anything about Mercer but that have scored a bunch of goals from reviewing their stats. Seems unlikely to keep them off the board completely so I'll go 3-1 CCH.
  21. I'd agree that the result was a fair one. CCH generated more and better chances in their offensive third of the field than Ryle did and they were the better team last night.
  22. I'm not sure that anyone is all that familiar with Mercer County but based on their schedule and scores, it seems it should be a fairly even matchup with CCH. Mercer is 21-2-2 on the season and have scored 106 goals but it's unlikely they have seen a quality defensive group like CovCath will put on the field. Should be an interesting match.
