  1. Yes, that's the same one I looked at and there are a couple players listed in error on that but there are definitely a handful of juniors that will be on the JV this year.
  2. I only count 36 players on the roster that is posted but maybe we are looking at different ones. The roster also lists a couple names in error as well. I'd guess that the Colonels will start 6-7 seniors along with a mix of juniors and a sophomore or two. Nate Darpel and Jack Stava are the only two sophomores on the roster and I'd expect both to see significant playing time. CCH has a deep squad and playing time will be tough to come by for some of those players. If they can find some consistent scoring they will be as good or better than last year.
  3. I wouldn't get too overly excited about any team's performance in Bluegrass Games. I believe St. Henry was split into two squads for this and it was probably an extended tryout for them. My guess is they beat a team like McCracken by 3 or 4 goals in a real game.
  4. I believe each team gets three games in this tournament and it's not an elimination type set up where you are done with a loss.
  5. Thanks for the info. I'm not quite sure what the "stadium field" reference is for some of the games. There is only one field.
  6. CCH is in the dead period until July 17th, which is when tryouts begin with two a day practices.
  7. Less than a month from Soccerama, which kicks off the season for the N. Ky. boys teams. This year's event is being held at the newly renovated CCH stadium complete with lights. I do not have the schedule but I believe CCH is matched up with Brossart. Anyone have access to the full schedule?
  8. How many seniors did Madison Central graduate? How many returning starters?
  9. I believe Kyle Newman is the new coach at Campbell Co.
  10. I've only seen one freshman have a real impact at varsity level in recent years and that was Luke Treadway. As to the large number of ODP regional players my guess is it's related to how much money they can make from them.
  11. Isn't that his third school in three years? Wasn't he at Cooper as a frosh? If so, the apple does not fall far.....
  12. Would be curious to hear from someone at Boone or St. Henry if this is true. I'm guessing he'd have to sit this year.
  13. Best keeper in the tri-state is a pretty bold statement for someone who has not logged a varsity minute.
  14. I believe it will be a CCH/Ryle/St. Henry race for the most part with Highlands as a darkhorse in N. Ky. CCH - biggest question mark in my mind is who replaces all the Griffin Lamb scoring after this year. CCH returns a very strong group of juniors and will supplement that with a solid sophomore class. I would look for one or two (Darpel and Stava) current freshmen to either be starting or earning significant playing time for CCH as well. They should be very deep. Defensively they return their keeper and 3 of the 4 starting defenders although my guess is some of those players move forward next year. If CCH can score consistently they will be tough to beat. Ryle - I think their biggest loss was their goalkeeper who often kept them in games. I'm guessing James Spindley takes over that slot and he is very solid in goal. They were offensively challenged last season and I didn't see much on the JV to make me think that will change this season. I think Ryle will be there because they will remain strong defensively as they have been in recent history. St. Henry - they also return a large junior class but replacing Sanders and Manahan will be their biggest challenge. They also have a strong sophomore class with Ross and some others that will take on much larger roles this fall.
  15. While he and Neal Frink coached together for several years, I have it on very good authority that there is no truth to this "rumor". Since he is currently serving as CCH radio play by play announcer for soccer, I'm sure that's more enjoyable than a coaching gig. Neal would have been a good candidate for this job. I'm sure Highlands will come up with a good coach as this is one of the better positions for soccer coaches in N. Ky.
  16. Well deserved honor for all the players and the CCH players in particular. Vogt, Schutt and Lamb all played roles in the state championship team of 2015 and of course, almost pulled off a repeat. Great careers for all three of them. Jeremy did a fantastic job getting them in position to try for a repeat so again, I think he is deserving of the coach of the year honor. CCH with a very strong core returning in 2017.
  17. And some folks like to talk about how the soccer threads go south.
  18. Curious about the double technical in the first half. I believe a HC player shoved a CCH player after a CCH score on the ensuing inbounds. Did the CCH player taunt or say something? I believe both received T's. Agree on Nowak/Schrand. I believe Schrand got one shot off in the second half and I thought Nowak was called for a couple cheap fouls. Nice defense by him overall.
  19. Nice showing by the Colonels without CJ. Hope the boys are having fun.
  20. This was just students talking about it and not players. Hopefully not true.
  21. Was via twitter so maybe just a rumor and hopefully so. I'd imagine we'd know if that was true soon enough.
  22. I heard CJ Fredrick broke an ankle or is that a rumor?
  23. Having made the drive to watch my first Colonels bball game of the season, I'd agree with a few of the comments on here. First, I thought Lenihan played a good game starting in place of Aiden. He certainly wasn't the problem. Secondly, Moeller is very good defensively so you have to give them a lot of credit. I'd also agree that when your top two players turn the ball over as many times as they did, you really don't have much of a chance. The last 2-3 minutes of the first half were brutal in that regard. I thought AJ Mayer was the best player on the floor for CCH last night. He was a rebounding machine. I also thought Walter looked good and will only get better. I'd have liked seeing a few more drives and dishes to him but Moeller made that difficult. Two good teams.
  24. State of Kentucky can decide to end these games however they'd like and they have chosen PK's, probably like every other state. As I said, I'd like to see two 10 or even 15 minute sudden death OT's but no longer than that. I think if you were to poll players they are OK with games ending like this because they know and accept this system and really, there isn't a better one.
