I've seen you say that a few times. Athletic and pretty good size, but I didn't see enough out of him last year to warrant top 10. Granted, I didn't see him play a ton, so maybe he's better than I thought.

I think Lafayette is a very, very good team that is right there with Henry Clay and Dunbar at the top of the 11th. All three are top 20 teams. Christian, Catholic and perhaps Scott County will be in the mix as well.

Set your goals high, regardless of what you are doing. That should be the message. That said, as was mentioned, if you shoot to be the president (of this country, a company, etc), and you fall short, odds are you're still going to land in a great place. Unfortunately, if you fall short in basketball and the playing days are over, who knows? Point being that kids need to be taught priorities, perspective and to be well-rounded. Sports can adtually help with this if they aren't the end-all for the players (or the parents...).

Wow. That should make things interesting in Liberty. One of their top 2 to 3 players is a local boy that is a 5'9" PG (Miller). I can't imagine that they'd not start him. So, their backcourt will go 5'9" & 5'9"?? That would force their current best player and leading scorer (Smith), who is a 2 guard, to play the 3 - which would create another problem for them on the defensive end. Like I said, it should be interesting!

Reyes' position and height?

Will they have new players that they did not have this summer? I'm assuming so since you are stating they would be top 2 to 3.

Dow will be just fine. He already has a D2 offer and is likely to get more D2 and/or NAIA offers. Also, if both he and Mercer play up to their potential this year, it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up with a D1 opportunity.

That's a superb choice. Being a sports forum, the quality of the educational opportunity usually takes a back seat, and I get that. But that is FAR more important in the long run. And you just can't get a much better degree than that! It's not for everyone, obviously. But, if it's for you, you can't beat it! Good luck big guy!!

Pretty good listing of many of the top teams, though there are a couple that are head scratchers. From the 12th, Southwest and Wayne are both top 25 teams. When does the pre-season BGP poll come out? I'm guessing around the first of November.

What happened to Antrobus (spelling?) that transferred to Rowan from Pendleton?

As has been said, it is always good to see KY kids getting the chance to play close to home. I think that's a great fit for him and he will have a good career there. I always kind of figured he'd end up there if the opportunity presented itself. And it did as soon as the new coach arrived on campus. Interesting that both he and Faulkner chose NKU over EKU. Assuming the EKU staff truly wanted and pursued those two, it has to be somewhat of a shock for them to lose out to Northern - especially on both!

Lafayette, Dunbar and HC are the top 3. I think LCA, Scott County and Lex Cath each have an outside shot as well, with LCA being my sleeper.

Couldn't imagine that trying yet another school, after having just been denied, would have a positive outcome.

How does Coldiron's move to Wayne County affect the preseason rankings? I think it will be very interesting to see how a guy with his size and body meshes with Wayne County's frenetic pace and style of play.

So Apollo coach, how has your August been?

Goodin and Williams have been there for some time and there's little debate there. I've always thought Faulkner would be there but he took a step back last year, only to come on strong this year. He's a special scorer. I wasn't really familiar with Dishman until this year but I really like him and think he has significant upside. Matt Wilson has the luxury of a size advantage that no one else on that list has. Beyond those I've mentioned (along with Beverly and Wright if they were still here), I have a hard time seeing the rest in the top 10 as above most of the other kids that are listed in the top 20. I don't say this as a criticism, more to point out that there simply is very little, if any, difference in the rest of those kids. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder at that point, and it really depends on what you like in a player.

I was thinking I saw him play last summer (2014) with the Travelers 16U team. Unless I'm confusing him with someone else, and I may be, he didn't play that much and ended up quitting.

I will agree that he's the most legit of the group of guys from KY that are trying to do this type of thing. But, like I asked about the other guy, does anyone know his background as it relates to the game of basketball? What was his background prior to becoming a basketball expert?

No particular disrespect to this fellow. I'm sure he tries. But these player rankings just generally aren't very good. Very difficult to do and get right, yet more and more guys seem to be coming out of the woodwork as the next expert. Just curious. What's this guy's resume as it relates to basketball? Do you know PP?
