  1. Right now they have primarily ran the Wishbone, but occasionally I believed they have jumped into an I on passing opportunities. I wouldn't be surprised to see some other formation come about once they get a bit more settled on the QB situation. As for the QB situation, Tayshaun Carruthers started at the position, he was never a QB, but was willing to fill a role. He was a DE last year! He is doing okay and is very mobile, but like I said he never intended on being a QB. AT 6'2" 210 he certainly has the size . The QB role was shared in the game with Sophomore Cam Marshall, whom is young and needs more reps to lead, but I would make a guess that we will see more of him in the QB role, with Carruthers moving more to an "athlete" position. ---but that is all speculation--- Both have their upsides, but I guess that will be decided as we go. As a team I believe they are doing well considering all they have been through, but they still have to improve, mainly in their passing game, to get to a top 5-6 role. I have seen some asking or talking about how they will fare against Mayfield or Caldwell and to that I say give it a moment people, because they have only played one game. This group of Seniors have had: 4 Head coaches 4 Offenses to learn 4 Defenses to learn 4 different philosophies to go by. It is a miracle they could even be considered in the top 10. Coach Smith is doing a unenviabaly tough job, and is trying to keep things flowing seamlessly in the transition form Duncan to himself and the players seem to be responding well. So we just hope they continue to develop as the season progresses, and that whomever assumes the permanent HC role can continue to add stability and structure to the program.
  2. That is something we have lacked for several years. Its hard to win any games if you cant hold your ground in the trenches.
  3. I was really thinking we could be better this year, but they surprised me how well they are doing. I knew the pieces were there, but with the turmoil of losing your head coach 2 weeks before season, you had to wonder how they would respond. The running game is pretty salty, Askew and Crim are big punishing backs , while Ford and "Freeway" Freeman add some serious speed to the attack. As others mentioned, our passing game still needs a lot of work, but I think it will come around with some reps. Defensively, they look to be doing pretty well. I'm not saying they are world beaters yet, but they are definitely ahead of where most thought they would be. I wish them and Coach Smith continued improvement, and a great season.
  4. Morris is the best in the business at making adjustments.
  5. 20-12 UC lead at the half certainly a surprise, but not over
  6. Nice preview, like many I would say the top 4 are clearly better out of the gate, but there could be a few challenge that towards the end of season depending on their development.
  7. This group of PT seniors is a tough bunch, they have endured 4 different coaching changes and have seen way more drama and problems than any group should have to. They are definitely have more experience at that than ANY group out there. You have to give the devil his due, with all that just to be considered a top ten team is no small feat. They have had to change everything they have learned over and over, and every change has effected them in different ways. Different offenses, defenses, special team schemes, and off season workout expectations. I wouldn't consider anything they have or haven't done disappointing, but rather "a work unfinished", as I would challenge any group to accomplish what they have in the face of adversity they have endured. It is certainly hard to develop any consistency and continuity with all that going on. What does this season hold for them? Time will tell, they have some talented pieces of the puzzle. Hopefully Coach Smith can continue on with the great things that Coach Duncan had started and this team will thrive on the adversity thrown their way. And I pray this offseason finds PT a replacement that will bring the stability and leadership it needs to move forward.
  8. Well I would definitely think it is our turn, but with the recent turn of events who knows how they will respond and how the new staff will adapt. We shall see.
  9. But Kentucky football is weak compared to these other elite states............ Detect my sarcasm---
  10. From a 3rd party perspective, this Mayfield team is one of the fastest across the board that I have seen in a while. Since I'm no pro scout I cannot tell you if they have "elite" speed, but their whole team gets to where they are going in a hurry.
  11. Congrats Cards, Wow- Mayfield vs. Danville---- I've seen that show before!
  12. If memory serves me correct intentional grounding in the end zone is a safety
  13. Coach Morris is the best in the game at making adjustments, and then making more adjustments.
  14. Wow, Central with a definite momentum swing!
  15. This is an interesting game, Boyle has been playing great for a while, and E-Town seems to be playing better every game. As usual, I will stick the adage that defense wins championships, which would give the edge to Boyle. However if Boyle fails to contain ETowns' running game, It could get interesting. Ill take Boyle 38-24
  16. I never bought into believing one season or one game properly displays the strength of a schools program.
  17. Sounds like both are pumped and ready for this matchup. CAL will have to bring their A game to win at Mayfield, as I am sure the Cards will bring theirs. Im picking the Cards at home 35-24
