  1. The Catholic schools in NKY have always competed well against the larger public schools when it comes to basketball. CCH, NCC, HC, and St.Henry (In the 10th Brossart), this is nothing new. I agree with everyone above the main reason is the feeder system the Catholic schools have compared to the public schools. Even small schools like Holy Cross has 5 8th grade basketball teams to feed from. Most public schools by that time have narrowed there teams down to 1 or 2 Junior High teams. But with all that said it's hard to say Catholic schools are dominating when Holmes is clearly the most dominate and most consistent program over the last decade.
  2. I grew up in NKY thinking I didn't have a southern dialect . Then I moved to to Michigan for work and ever customer I have asks me where in the south am I from . I do agree with UKM there are a lot of differences from NKY and the rest of the state . I could see it and hear it playing multiple sports across the state . NKY does have a lot more similar with Cincy than the rest of the state. But I personally always tell people I'm from KY and always considered myself southern . I love my bourbon , basketball, and horse racing. I'm as Kentucky as they come . But talking about downstate bias, from a personal experience I had playing in Paintsville I think the bias is 100% real.
  3. That was a close one. The lowering of the shoulder makes me lean offensive.
  4. I agree 100%. If you played in the 9th and went to other regions you could tell the difference. I enjoyed the loser whistles in other regions .
  5. 9th region has historically been called tighter than most the state so it probably throws other regions off .
  6. That may be a refs own description of how he calls the play but that description is not in the rules. For the record my first post was not going against what Clyde said because if how he described the play is correct then the correct call was made. I was just correcting someone's incorrect description of legal defensive position
  7. I'm two states away so I'm not going to comment on this specific play. But how you have attempted to explain the rule on defense and the rule of vertically has been completely wrong . Some officials may wrongly give the offensive player the benefit of the doubt but the defensive player has every right to his space from the floor up to the ceiling as long as he is set straight up and down. Feet being on the ground is irrelevant.
  8. Yea I don't see that as a huge upset that were #3 in region weren't they ?
  9. The boone team in 96 or the recent Newport win have to be top two.
  10. 90s were a great decade for the tribe. Since 2000 they have fallen on hard luck. If it wasn't for that first round upset in 95 when one of greatest HC teams ever got upset by CCH and HC voted for seeding changes these past 14 years may have been different.
  11. You sure about NCC being #1 in state in 01 . I know that was a good team and front runner in 9th that year but I don't recall them being #1.
  12. I just don't understand why highlands fans respond to UKfan. Its obvious be is doing it to be funny. I chuckle.
  13. #FatJason you should take that as a compliment he called you thin.
  14. I don't have a problem with either situation. I want every kid to play. But it seems you have a problem with the distance someone traveled to transfer but not transferring itself. I personally don't see a difference.
  15. 2003 wasn't as good as good as some of the 90s years. Walter is showing his age. Heck the Holmes team that year would be lucky to play on same court as some of those early 90s teams from Holmes.
  16. Serious question if it's a liabilty issue to let kids drive. Then why do schools such as Covington Holy Cross still have classes. Like I said earlier a good chunk of those students live and drive on the same roads as Scott and Simon Kenton kids.
  17. The funny thing about Kenton County rules and cancellations is that a good chunk of Holy Cross's student body has to drive the same roads as Scott and Simon Kenton kids to school and sporting events and seem to be just fine.
  18. Best its been since early to mid 90s .
