There are a lot of Smith and Madison Central connections. It seemed fishy.

The guy took over a program that didn't win a game the year before he got there. In two years, he won his district. The year after that, MC beat Manual in a playoff game. He lost a huge senior class his final year and played a bunch of freshman and sophomores that are going to make noise in the near future.

 

The Bert Browne firing was a fix. The administration at MC has to be the biggest joke in the state of Kentucky right now.

Soon after Browne was forced out, a good friend of mine inquired about that job through a connecting source. Coming from the AD's mouth, they felt like they had a very good shot at Smith and they would consider other applicants only after their pursuit of him finished. This is just a personal opinion, but I feel like the two sides were communicating significantly before the Browne departure. Take that for what it's worth.

Would have loved to seen what Chuck Smith could do in 6A. Now he is in 3A, which isnt that loaded. At least not as loaded as 6A. Maybe he knew what he was doing by getting out of the Big Boys League.

I'm not sure 6A high school football is as big as Big Boys SEC football and I know he was only a linbackers coach but I would think that is more "big boy" than 6A football in Kentucky!
