Ouch, little harsh there Mustang. Granted, Collins struggled against a team that, once both teams took the floor I thought they would handle fairly easily. They didn't play great and did not exploit their inside advantage in the first half the way they should have I thought. Once Collins decided to go inside early in the 2nd half the Lions started packing it waaaaaaaay back in the lane and Collins couldn't make a jumper. They were playing so far off McKnight his defender could have had Ebola and he would have had no worries about contracting it. And for 3 quarters the freshman pg McKnight played like...well...a freshman under the intense spotlight of the sweet 16. He played much better in the 4th though and was a big factor in Collins taking it to overtime. Collins played very tight I thought, which some teams are prone to do when they get to Rupp.

Collins I do not think will be able to handle the Cooper D...Cooper something like 58-45.

So, for a team like Hoptown who presses, when's the "point of diminishing returns" reached when they are giving up more than they are getting and they come out of it? Or is it just who they are and they keep it coming regardless?

I'm probably taking off work tomorrow to watch the early session. With that said, I have Scott Co. going to the finals in my bracket, so sticking with them. But would not be surprised what so ever if BG beat them.

Well, I had PCC over Harlan in the 2nd round, so may as well stick with them over Scott too. PCC creates a LOT of mismatches with other teams because of their size, but they have a couple of big weaknesses as well. If Scott isn't normally a pressing team as mentioned above, it's probably because they aren't all that good at it (that would be my guess anyway) or maybe aren't deep enough to try anything with regularity, I don't know. If that's the case I don't look for them to change from that too much. A bad press can do as much harm as a good press can do good.

it's an oddly configured team for sure...they aren't quick at the guard spots but Tobler with his size is a mismatch and they have shooters so you can't just pack a zone in on them either to try and negate that size. would love to see them play a team like Hopkinsville and see whose style and team composition would win out.

Figured PCC would be just too big and strong for Pikeville, which turned out to be the case.

GC kept it close for a half, but BG came racing out to take over in the 3rd.

Good job. Was going to say the same about Cooper but it was mentioned above. I think this is going to be one heck of a state tournament.

Boosters footing the bill???

Not sure Deuce what you think the typical age of a high school freshman is, but most turn 15 between Aug and May of their freshman year...by far the vast majority. Of course you will always have a few younger and will graduate before they turn 18, and you will always have some older due to failing a grade, holdbacks, etc. Prof, you were just on the younger end of that spectrum sounds like. I have a young man that I coach who will be 17 when he graduates...is a sophomore right now, and he won't be 18 till the following October...almost a full 5 months after he graduates. Not only could he be a freshman now, which actually should probably be his natural class, but by rule he could have been held back, be in the 8th grade right now and STILL be eligible to play all 4 years of high school athletics. It would have been unreal the difference he would have made for us as an 8th grader...and almost as unreal to think that it actually falls within the allowable age range, by almost a full 3 months.

Cooper D's it up like you wouldn't believe. I'm not sure how well that might comes thru just viewing Hudl on-line. It's going to take a very very good team/performance to beat Cooper IMO, and I just don't think Meade Co. is that team.

Throws 97 and still in high school. WOW! That's a true gift from God right there, can't teach that.

I've been in a lot of gyms in my day, but I have NEVER been in one that hot at that time of the year, even gyms a quarter the size of Roy. Not to say there haven't been any as I'm sure some of the smaller places, when they get packed they get plenty hot, but I've never been in one like the Roy was Monday night. Heck, there are few gyms I have been in during the dead of summer that were not that hot. Now finals night it wasn't as bad, even with a similar sized crowd.

Yea I don't now if it does or not, but apparently someone thinks it might, or maybe they think a coach here or there thinks it might so they turn them off to quell any issue before it arises.

I guess the belief is they push enough air that it could affect the flight of the ball. They turn them on at half time and you can start to feel the difference, but then turn them off again when the teams come back out.

They have 2 but don't run them during games.

Heard about this the other night at a region game. Very sad.
