Degrading? I guess we have a much different definition of that word cause I degraded no one and actually enjoyed the game.

Dude it is what it is. And people have been saying that about my team this year and you know what, I have agreed with them as much of the time as not cause they haven't played well much of the year.

Neither team is really very good, but they are very evenly matched. Was a competitive game and could have gone either way...GC was the one to go on a little mini run late and hold on for the win.

And Gritton has really been coming on offensively as of late...something I think was missing from the first SO game if I'm not mistaken. He also got into early foul trouble and sit a lot of the first half.

Everybody has their quirks. She's pretty solid otherwise.

So, the two "non-NKY" teams on the schedule...Bryan Station, 4-7 last year...Meade Co...2-9 last year. 1A Beechwood on the schedule (sure, Beechwood is a very good 1A school...but SK scheduling them? Why?). HHS, though unusual, is way down. Scrimmages don't count and are just that, scrimmages. Does someone want to call this a "strong" schedule? I'm not going to. Average at best. Where are the teams that are going to test/push these guys, assuming they are in line to be a top 6A team? Cincinnati is right across the river, can they not get a game with at least one of the tougher teams over there? Short trip too if on the road. I'm sorry, but to me, this is not the schedule one makes if a powerhouse 6A program looking to grow even better. I'm no expert and no one will lose sleep over my opinion, but that's the way I see it. To the original question...it is neither brutal, nor brilliant in my mind.

Actually when she first told me the story, I laughed and teased and made fun of her. She didn't like that...AT ALL. It's something she finds very disturbing. We haven't discussed it in years.

Actually, it's at Henry because, the info I have been given anyway, it's required to be there. I have been told from multiple sources that when the gym was built (mid-late 60's I think?) it was built to specifically host the 8th region tournament and contracts were signed stating it would be the permanent host site..at least for several several years anyway. Now, if that is the TYRUE case, I don't know, but I have been told such. And there has never been any move I am aware of the get it moved from Henry. It's a great gym...but the parking does leave a lot to be desired.

Well...my girlfriend does, and claims her and here sister were abducted in Colorado...or at least held in some sort of hypnotic state for a couple of hours...several years ago. We went to the location a few years back when in the area for a wedding. It's a very unpopulated stretch of road in the mountains leading up to a cabin her dad owned (since sold) where a lot of UFO sightings, along with quite a few cattle mutilations are reported. Do I believe? Call me a skeptic.

With this draw I can see Anderson with the possibility of getting to the finals again. And if you can make it to the finals anything can happen. They are probably playing their best ball of the year right now, hopefully they can keep it for at least three more games.

Anderson Aces plan on playing some in the 9th grade division this year. Nothing big, central KY mostly and might travel further a time or two.

Outside of holiday tournaments and summer ball, I still don't see a lot of games being played on Sundays during the regular season. Wednesday nights have historically been reserved for church amongst the Christian denominations, and still is for a lot of us, and it was a time when it was rare to see something played on a Wednesday night. AC played a ton of freshman games on Wednesday night this year (most all of them I think), and there were definitely some not happy with that.

Excellent post and was going to post something similar myself, but you beat me to it. Being close to the AC program and being fortunate enough to have coached some of their younger players, I see the development and potential. @Cardsrule1972 may be in a similar position I am with Spenser County, sounds like he has a lot of insight.

Why, oh why will someone tell me what's up with these Wednesday night games? That used to be fairly taboo in this area, but seems to be getting much more common.

Just a question in general. If you are throwing team, is it worth having a TE if you are only going to look at him 2-3 times a game, which might equate to one catch, maybe the odd game with a couple of catches? Unless you are looking to throw to the middle of the field at the TE several times a game, or are a power running team and the TE is essentially another big blocker, is a TE needed? And I ask that being a big fan of the TE position myself, but I am now so far removed from football I consider myself not much more than a novice (if that) when it comes to the technical aspects of todays game.

As far as youth, that has been a big point of discussion concerning Spencer...talent in their underclassman. What some fail to realize is that there are two other teams just in the 30th district in Anderson and Collins that have a LOT of talent in their freshman class. And oh by the way three of Anderson's best four players return next year as seniors to go along with that talented freshman class that will be sophomores with at least three of those freshmen (I believe) making a very positive impact. The immediate future looks very bright at Anderson.

When you are approached in the cafeteria at Small College U and asked if you want to play on the jv basketball team (or whatever jv team)...and yes, that happens...hey great for them and they might get to play a little bit of ball and have some fun...but I'm not so sure that's much of an "accomplishment". Signing ceremonies used to be held for those special athletes that were recruited by post secondary schools to play a varsity sport and are getting some sort of high level benefit...such as a full ride scholarship or a large portion of their education paid for. Signing ceremony to go play on the jv or club team? Naaaa, not a fan of that.

Better team won, no question in my mind about that. Anderson got sloppy a time or two in second half but went to Gritton down the stretch who SC had no answer for. I'd be lying though if I said I thought the game would be a "no doubter" for AC. All my AC guys felt the same, thought it would probably be close and come down to the last couple of minutes. I'm glad it didn't.

Didn't think it would be quite this close, but then again Collins not playing their best ball and Shelby wanting to desperately pull the upset in this rival game can lead to nail biters like this.
