Now that we know the 8 teams for the Regional Tournament held at Roy Winchester Gymnasium, on the campus of Henry County High School, I wanted to do a ranking of the 8 teams going into this Sunday's draw. There are some District Championships on the line starting tonight, there importance of winning and losing your district could be a big factor in reaching the final. We also have (4) All A schools advancing for the first time since 2000. Should be a great regional Tourney. Below are my last rankings until the regional write-up. Of course I missed 2 in my prediction thread, and they were the 2 wouldn't you know that I had a hard time with :no:

 

1. Oldham County Colonels

2. South Oldham Dragons

3. Collins Titans

4. Walton Verona Bearcats

5. Anderson County Bearcats

6. Gallatin County Wildcats

7. Williamstown Demons

8. Eminence Warriors

 

These rankings may change of course based on the district championships, we are in for some great basketball today and tomorrow. Good luck to all teams, players, and coaches!

Looks good @8th Region Warrior I'll be heading over to Shelbyville tonight to watch the Anderson/Collins final. Should be a good one I think if Anderson plays the way it did Wednesday night especially on the defensive end they can win the 30th District Championship.

Should be but they have to work around the girls regional since the girls state is first this year. They have a lot of flexibility since the boys state does not begin until March 15.

I would think it might be Wednesday, Thursday, Monday (semis) and Tuesday March 7 finals. I think they can't meet to decide until Sunday since the 31st and 32nd finals are not until Sat. night.

Yes I agree if they continue to play the way they have their last couple of games if they revert back to the way they played in late January or early February they could lose to any of the 7 other teams in the tourney.

Why, oh why will someone tell me what's up with these Wednesday night games? That used to be fairly taboo in this area, but seems to be getting much more common.

In the 8th, the girls start with first round action at Oldham County HS on Monday / Tuesday.

 

The boys' first round games on Wed / Thur at Henry County HS.

 

Girls SF And finals Fri/Sat at Oldham.

 

Boys' SF and finals are Mon/Tue March 6 and 7 at Henry.

 

With regards to the question about the Wed games, the 8th Region has done it this way for many, many years.

Looking forward to the rematch between OC and South. OC won by 6 on their court earlier. Griffin was sick so it will be fun to see how it plays out. OC playing really good ball right now and will have home court advantage. With Griffin driving the lane and Young getting into a groove from outside it will be another close game. If not mistaken I think the three times South as won the 8th they did not win the District.

Outside of holiday tournaments and summer ball, I still don't see a lot of games being played on Sundays during the regular season. Wednesday nights have historically been reserved for church amongst the Christian denominations, and still is for a lot of us, and it was a time when it was rare to see something played on a Wednesday night. AC played a ton of freshman games on Wednesday night this year (most all of them I think), and there were definitely some not happy with that.
