The Campbell County-Trimble County game officiating was consistent with 8th region officiating last year. They called two hands but not the touchy stuff.

I honestly think it reduce the entertainment value on all levels. If fans aren't satisfied, they'll quit attending the games. In major college basketball, I believe the networks will ultimately force the NCAA into backing off. Games are scheduled for two hours, and they rarely ever ended in that amount of time before this year. It's nothing to see a game go 2 hours and 20 minutes to 2 1/2 hours this season. If you're a network airing back to back games, the second game will be very far along before they cut to that game. Also, if it is tourney time, each game site will keep backing times up due to warmups between games. Be ready for some really late nights on the first weekend of the NCAAs. Even though I brought up NCAA examples, the same will happen on the high school level, only to a lesser degree. We're all in for some late nights this season on those long away games. That is bad for the parents, but it's really bad for the student athletes.

Trimble County returns 9 of 11 roster players from last year's varsity team including leading scorer, senior Paige Black. They lost two to graduation including floor leader and leading rebounder Chloe Griffith. Three starters return, Black, Jessie Dunlap and Erin Gonterman, all seniors. The Lady Raiders also return 6' soph Mila Consley, 6' frosh Shelbe Black and frosh guard Kaylee Clifford. These three will see considerable playing time and may rotate in and out of the starting lineup. Rounding out the roster are juniors Ashley Brierly and Tailor Brewer and soph Katie Gonterman. These ladies will also see playing time this season. Look for Paige Black to fill the leadership void left with the graduation of Griffith. This season should see another step forward in the program. The schedule is challenging right out of the gate at home against Campbell County. These ladies are capable of great things and hope they will be able to deliver.

Isn't this a recent change? I remember looking at these not long ago and the former players were listed. I also looked back two years ago and noticed those seniors are gone too. The 2011-12 season still has seniors listed. Maybe they didn't mean to do this. Strange.

Two years ago, we had 7th and 8th graders playing their MS schedule and then playing Frosh and JV. Last year, the girls in that 7th grade class (now 8th grade), played their MS schedule, some Frosh and all JV and Varsity games. It was all coordinated between the MS and HS coaches. These girls made major contributions on the varsity level and will contend for starting positions as Frosh this year. The only reason they didn't dress varsity as 7th graders is because we had 7 seniors on that team.

Trimble has had way over half the team out for volleyball. They come back today. We have one CC member that runs her six miles and then comes to basketball practice by choice. Dedication.

I saw this in the boys basketball forum and thought it would be a good topic of discussion here too. I find this time of year so very interesting for high school basketball. Practice and tryouts officially started on October 15th. Most fall sports are just getting into the post season. Some schools will be without members of their roster for 6 more weeks. Hard for coaches to even conduct tryouts at some schools. Makes me wonder......What percentage of your expected varsity roster is currently playing basketball?

I've got to believe Oldham is the favorite, but I'm sure South will give them a run for their money. Trimble has proven they can compete, but they still need to take the next step. It's one thing to make it a close game, but it doesn't mean anything if you don't finish.

Who's that guy that coached Davenport this summer?

Two to graduation. Both were starters. One was a good rebounder and the other was a role player. This year they have 3 seniors, all starters. Beyond that they're likely to start a soph and frosh or 2 frosh.

If only Trimble, Carroll and Gallatin were still in the same district. I think those rivalries would thrive.

I really need to make a point to go watch Anderson County this year.

He's the QB on the football team this year so he's still there.

Just a FYI before this game starts. This was supposed to be at Eminence, but they agreed to a site change when construction on Trimble's new stadium construction had delays. Trimble was scheduled for 3 home games this season to get an early start in construction. Delays due to the bidding process could negatively affect next season's home schedule.
