Final from Alexandria..A very gutsy performance turned in tonight by sophomore PG Taylor Gambrell who made 20 of 28 free throws and finished the night with 25 points for the Cougars. In limited play because of foul trouble Madi Myers was still able to score 21 points. Also a special mention should go out to Sophomore Shelby Frye who came off the bench to score 11 points and she also came up with some key rebounds for the Cougars..All in all a good 1st game for Conner..Congrats to Coach Stamm, his staff and the Lady Cougars on a very good win on the road tonight....

That's ridiculous! I can't imagine watching a game with 84 free throws. Why not just play a game of horse, around the world or 21?

Someone might need to check the Conner record books to see if 20 makes and 28 attempts are records.

Difference in this was free throws. Conner shot around 90% from the line. Horrible game to watch with all the fouls. If any of the girls sneezed or farted they were whistled for a foul. It's making a mockery of the game.

Game was tied at 41 at the half. I thought coach Stamm made some nice adjustments at halftime. Conner's bench really stepped up and maintained the lead after some of the starters got into foul trouble.

 

Kramer from CC had a nice game as well with 20 points.

 

After watching a few games already this year, I've learned that if you are a guard and you can keep from fouling, you can certainly use the new rules to your advantage on offense. All you have to do is drive to the basket. You're either going to have an uncontested layup, or you're going to get fouled 80% of the time.

I guess we have been lucky so far. We have played two games and have not had any issues with the fouls. No one in foul trouble and I'm not sure if we've even made it to double bonus in either game. If we did, it was very late in halves.

 

I know our staff put a lot of time and effort into proper defense...helping, sliding feet and getting in gaps. Either that is paying off for them or we've been extremely lucky with refs.
