You have to wonder if playing such a physical position like LB affects Daugherty's kicking. He has to feel pretty beat up in games when he kicks. Not making excuses...just wondering.

I know he is talented. However, the announcers said he is 3-9 on FG's this year. Is that right??

It would be tied if not for missing a very makeable FG. I agree that CCH dominated the line of scrimmage on defense though. HHS line held its own on offense.

Nice drive. Mixed it up well and Hergott made a couple of nice plays - one running and one throwing.

Watching the HHS 160 lb nose guard getting steam rolled every play would be comical except that I am a HHS fan. The CCH center just knocks him down and lays on him on many plays. Why would you start a kid that small at nose guard? I actually feel sorry for him as he has a kid 100+ lbs bigger than him blocking him each play.

Looks like HHS is afraid to let the QB throw the ball down the field. Either runs or short throws to the flat.

Dropped ball by HHS receiver (Cain) on 3rd and 3 was HUGE. He would have had the first down easily...

HHS would have less than they have if they played in 6a. I don't think ANY HHS fan would argue that. Thanks Mr. Obvious...

What is your problem with what I posted JOAT? It is all true. And I did not say the offense was OK. I said it was no better than average and I admit that may be kind. I am not commenting on whether parents should be upset or not. I am saying I have heard that some ARE. I also said I am not surprised. If you are part of a program that has had the success that HHS has, you don't want to be on THE TEAM that had a losing record. Just human nature...and it would be embarrassing. You obviously have a kid on the team (on defense too) and I don't so you are much closer to things than me. It would bother me too if I had a kid on the team and kept hearing that the "talent level" is down. Maybe the coaches are playing the right guys and maybe they are not. But what I (and many others) saw last night was a team that did not have near the talent level as X, who is supposedly down this year. As to "what game are you watching", I was watching the game as a fan of HHS but one who is honest as to what he sees.

I am behind him as well (not part of any mafia-just a fan) but I have heard from some very reliable sources that some parents are very upset. Not surprising when a school that has had the success that HHS has struggles this much. I am sure the players are embarrassed as well as many others associated with the program. I went to the game tonight - first one I made this year because of various conflicts. I was shocked at how outmanned they were. Weinrich has been a very good football coach for 15+ years at that school. He did not forget how to coach this year. They simply DO NOT have the horses this year. Defense is SMALL and not particularly fast. X just pushed them around all night and did whatever it wanted. Offense is no better than average and the QB does not even resemble a D-I QB to me.

Highlands played Elder last year and a VERY good team from Florida (Christopher Columbus). The schedule this year is all KY teams for the first time in quite some time. I honestly think the HHS coaches did not want to play some of the out of state powers this year due to what they thought they had coming back this year...I could be wrong but that is what it looks like. Anyway, this is a CovCath thread - sorry to hijack it with HHS talk...

A stupid HS rule almost cost Wayne the game IMO. I was watching the game on TV at a birthday party and the sound was down but what I think happened at the end was this: Mo scored and missed the 2 point conversion with about a minute left that would have tied the game. Obviously they had to try and on-side kick. They do and Wayne recovers it. However, Mo was off sides on the kick so they blew the play dead and re-kicked. What? They basically rewarded Mo for committing a penalty. In college and the NFL, the play would have happened and the team that recovered the on-side kick could decline the penalty. Naturally Mo recovered the second on-side kick and had a very realistic chance to kick a game winning FG at the end. I am glad Wayne won as it would have been wrong for them to lose due to such a stupid rule IMO...
