Is CovCath half as good as last year?

Featured Replies

CCH is looking terrible early on this season. No need to sugarcoat it. Yes it is a new team. But that was the case every year when the seniors left. When Wags took over when Blake Bir left after that tremendously amazing season, CCH was even better. It's probably not Mayers fault. If Mayer took over last year, he'd do just as well with rushing, maybe even better. So what is wrong with the Colonels? Tackling?

I realize that a whole lot can change between now and playoff time, but I am starting to have a feeling that this year's Highlands-CovCath game may end up being of little consequence in determining the state football champion in their class. It has been a long time (2005) since neither HHS nor CCH has been in a state title game...

Again, it is a long time between now and November, so who knows how good HHS and CCH will be come playoff time?

This team will be fine. Believe we will see things start to come together next week. They have talent and are still learning a totally new system on both sides of ball. They will get it together. Enough of the negative waves baby!

I think it is way too early to get totally upset with CCH. SK would probably beat Sycamore but nobody in N. Ky. is winning against the two teams CCH just played.

But I will offer this word of caution to Coach Eviston ... whatever you do, do not lose to Beechwood in 2 weeks. That will get you in trouble more than a loss to Highlands. If you don't believe, talk to your predecessor. Even Thrillville might go spastic if that happens.

They are at least 1/3 as bad. They're bad.

I think the talent level and overall mentality are in question at Cov Cath. I know they can obviously turn things around, but it's gut check time. The desire and motivation seems to be sub par. I hope I'm wrong, but the team seems completely defeated. It's not like they are just getting crushed by better teams...it doesn't appear the are playing with pride. Getting manhandled by far better opponents was expected. The way in which they were manhandled is of concern.

They didn't show much life today. Sycamore did look bigger and better than I expected though. I really don't know what to make of Covcath yet. They could still turn it around.

I know I'm not helping. I don't know how I would. CCH has a great future, no doubt about that at all. It's not like it will be 2 years until they show good progress. It will likely be a lot sooner. But right now they just aren't playing with passion like they used to do.

Well stated.

I didn't even mention myself in high school. I was talking about the players and the way they played last year and the years before. It seemed like they had alot more pride last year. But I can understand not having pride when you're getting beaten so badly. But I think everyone would agree that they aren't as spirited as before.

Serious question. Where would Saint X and Sycamore stack up against Kentucky 5a competition?

What do you think the score would have been had this Sycamore or X team played the 2006 CovCath team?

These games have no bearing on the season at all. We haven't even played a district game yet... And let's not forget, the district still looks very winnable.

I would put $ on CovCath winning state at least once within next 5 seasons
