Is CovCath half as good as last year?

Featured Replies

"Several problems these last couple years"? What problems this year aside from the losses? Half the team quitting at half time last year? No- not even close. You have some really bad info coming from an "unbiased parent." There were some bad vibes in the post Highlands loss going into Beechwood no doubt, but that staff is entirely gone so I'm not sure what kind of impact you think last year has on this year. I have seen and heard nothing but positive from this staff and these kids. Sure they are torn up about losing - but what competitive team wouldn't be?

I'm glad I'm wrong on the numbers. I hope it has absolutely NO impact on this years team. I hope that it has already been "flushed from the system." I just can't believe that it happened in the first place.

I have no idea of any problems this year. My concern about "culture," was the "culture" in which players did not want to take the field in the second half against beechwood. I'm sure there were all kinds of reasons this occurred. The thread is comparing this years team to last years. I just hope that whatever caused several of the players to want to quit, has been fixed.

I have not talked or heard about anyone who is not very positive about CovCath football.

Noone thought this team was going to be world beaters, they are on the young side and are learning a new system with the toughest schedule in the Ky.

CovCath can very well win 5 of the next 7 games.

Someone tries to ask some questions that sting a little and suddenly all the CCH fans are swarming like bees. If only the CCH defense could swarm that well right now.

The huge difference in talent combined with a new offense and defense and a bunch of young player's explains the start. Nothing complicated about it. This team will get better. Just outgunned early on. Jesus in the huddle would not have helped against X (maybe a little). The record to date has nothing to do with drive, motivation, or spirit. Amazing how crazy these discussions get.

Last post on this subject from me. I didn't say the lopsided score was the reason why Ryle pulled the plug on the series. It was the fact Highlands was still running fly routes with the game in hand in the 4th quarter.

It's not like they were doing onside kicks. (Sarcasm)

If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

If you are a true CCH fan and you "...know (you're) not helping..," then your silence would be one way you could actually help right now, wouldn't it??

...and, I might add, a horrific injury to their tough-as-nails RB on the 12 yard-line with 3 minutes left which took a whole lot of wind out of the CCH players' sails (Not to take anything from Ryle, who definitely won the game)!

Thank you, TC51, for injecting a dose of sanity to this thread!

Dig the sweeet camper van!

Overall this team is not as talented as the previous few. Not saying there are not very good players, there are some very good players. The Senior class overall is not a great football class, some good players but overall not the same level as the norm. They are starting a Sophomore QB, they lost their best Offensive weapon in game 1, and they are struggling to find an offensive identity.

Talent wise, while down from year's past, they are good enough to compete against and possibly beat the remaining teams on their schedule, with the possible exception of Scott Co. The concern I have is that if they don't come out and play well, and beat, LexCath it will be a difficult mentally to right the ship.

The facts are, they are not a great team, but luckily for them I don't see any great 5a schools on their side of the bracket. So if they can right the ship this week, not an easy task in Lexington, I think things will be fine. If they should lose to LexCath, it might be a very long year in Park Hills.

talking about changing the culture and players wanting to quit last year at halftime of a game.... thats why they got rid of Dave Wirth and brought in Eddie Eviston. Give him time and you'll be happy with the results. He's a winner. A young team learning a new system playing THAT schedule?? Someone said it earlier -- they are going to be a very tough out in the tournament - I guarantee they won't play a team as good as they've played thus far in the tournament.
