  1. Highlands has nicer buses, 27-24
  2. Will there be any grass left? They should really look at Turf options for nights like tonight.
  3. Should NOT have fired Nick Rice... He was Mr Newport and wanted to bring his alma mater success.
  4. talking about changing the culture and players wanting to quit last year at halftime of a game.... thats why they got rid of Dave Wirth and brought in Eddie Eviston. Give him time and you'll be happy with the results. He's a winner. A young team learning a new system playing THAT schedule?? Someone said it earlier -- they are going to be a very tough out in the tournament - I guarantee they won't play a team as good as they've played thus far in the tournament. PS - there's NEVER an unbiased parent of a player, IMO.

  6. It wouldn't be close. Take away the shock factor of playing guys who are bigger than you (look up the starting OL and DL for each team) but the speed of the game is different, even at the D3 level. That was my biggest adjustment from HS to college was getting used to the speed of the game. It was easily a step or two faster than the HS game.
  7. This. I can't even believe this is a real question, to be honest.
  8. Nope. Never happened before. It'll be in The Guiness Book by Friday night.
  9. and now he doesn't have to worry about coaching after the 2nd week in November.
  10. I've been involved with Thomas More for 20 years. Under Coach Schlager, there were three of those "27 year old military guys" in 1995 when I was a freshman. He recruited a mix of Transfers and traditional 18 year old freshman. In the beginning, there were transfers like QB John Paul Case (from Akron) and guys who were sitting at home after having quit D1 and traditional college students who wanted to play college football. Hilvert did a great job and I don't take anything away from him but truth be told, we wouldn't even be talking about Thomas More Football in 2015 if it wasn't for the efforts of Joe Schlager. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
  11. I'm sure there will still be a camp -- just will be run by Regis Scafe.
  12. Well, for now, he's doing what he does best -- applying for jobs :idunno:
  13. Coach Hilvert leaving Thomas More was a combination of wanting coach in the GCL (he applied to the job when it was open two years prior, as well) and frustration with some of the obstacles in place at Thomas More.
  14. This is not true. Joe Schlager was the greatest recruiter the college has had for football. His recruiting produced the guys who got the program going. He recruited higher level transfers, guys who gave up football to be students and later regretted it (after talking with Joe) and traditional HS seniors. He has a saying (now is the DC at Badin HS in Hamilton), "it ain't about the X's and O's - its about the Jimmy's and Joe's"
  15. why do the BOE in Boone County Operate in such a way? Does anyone know?
