  1. The ironic thing about this situation is that it is the NBA having this discussion and not the NFL. I think the NFL owners treat their players much more like "interchangeable drill bits" than NBA owners do. I think the relationship between NBA owners and NBA players is much better than between NFL owners and NFL players. The NBA seems to be much more of a partnership between owners and players than the NFL does. Maybe that is why the NBA is even considering this. If this gets traction, do NFL and MLB "owners" follow suit?
  2. I will certainly post my experience on here when I get back. I understand getting there is not easy...flying from Cincy to San Fran to Portland and then a 4 hour drive to Bandon (at least I have been told it is 4 hours).
  3. It really looks to me like he goes to the plate looking to walk.
  4. I just found out that I am playing Bandon Dunes in June. I absolutely cannot wait. It's a long story that I won't bore you with but I thought I would not be able to go but now can. We have 12 guys going and everything I have heard is that Bandon Dunes is about as good as it gets in the US to play golf. The pics on their web site are spectacular and guys I know who have been there say the pics don't lie...cannot wait!
  5. I cannot wait to see how Koepka does at the US Open at Pebble Beach. Pebble Beach is not a course that gives the longest hitters a huge advantage like Bethpage. It will be fun to watch. The conditions today at Bethpage were brutal. Woodland shot 2 under and moved up something like 30 spots. Some REALLY good players shot 75+. I love the way Koepka plays - seemingly with no fear. I will always root for Tiger to win but I really like Koepka too.
  6. I already have posted that it is very possible for an individual person (eg: referee) to be tempted enough to "fix" a game. Donaghy is proof of that and I seriously doubt he is the only ref that has ever fixed a game. Players in college (not getting paid or being paid a relatively small amount) could also be tempted to take cash to fix a game. But, c'mon, do you really think billionaires and multi-millionaires are going risk tainting their sport and possibly going to jail for fraud just so a player or two can play for a specific team? Keep in mind that one person cannot fix the lottery by himself. It would have to be a coordinated effort - a conspiracy. If you believe it, that is fine. I am not going to change your mind. It defies any semblance of logic though IMO.
  7. So is there any way the lottery could have played out where you would say it was not fixed? It seems no matter what happened, you are saying it may be fixed.
  8. LOL indeed. There is NO WAY the Commissioner who makes $20MM+ per year and the owners (billionaires) are going to take a chance of going to jail (for fraud) by fixing the draft lottery. Anyone thinking clearly should know that. The NBA prints money and the owners and commissioner would never risk it all to fix where any individual player goes. Now an official making MUCH LESS than that could be tempted to fix games (that has obviously happened and any sports league needs to always be watching out for that).
  9. Kit Kat would be #1 for me with Reese's Cup a close second.
  10. I like McDonald's BK the most. I like Subway the most for lunch. I have never had the issues that others have mentioned before. Like JD said, I guess it depends on the franchisee.
  11. Cannot disagree more. A tie is not the end of the world. College rules are a gimmicky, tricked up mess. I think that the NFL rules are fine now that the team that gets the ball first has to score a TD to end the game. I would also be fine with just playing another 10 minutes of OT - not sudden death. Whoever is ahead after the 10 minutes wins. If still tied, call it a tie. Why is a tie so bad? With the OT rules as they are, you only have one or two a year at the most.
  12. A picture is worth a thousand words. I don't know how you can see this picture and not think the stewards made the right call.
  13. I am flat out amazed that Sean Miller has not been canned from Arizona. He must have pics of the Arizona president doing inappropriate things with kids or animals. That is the only thing I can think.
  14. This should be interesting tonight. Scott Foster is one of the officials tonight. The Rockets HATE him. They have lost the last 6 games Foster has officiated and Harden said in February that he should not be allowed to officiate any more of their games.
  15. It was a great game tonight. I've watched the last 6 or 7 shows (since I heard how James was dominating) and this was the first one where he was challenged. You could see how relieved he was after winning. He has made Jeopardy must watch TV.
  16. The second happiest guy with this contract is Nick Saban. How long before he gets his raise/extension?
  17. That made me very suspicious as well. How could you "know" it was not arson when the building is still on fire?
  18. One of the best Masters ever! About 7-8 guys had a legitimate chance to win down the stretch and Tiger outlasted them all. He led the field in greens hit in regulation. He definitely deserved this. He just played very solid golf. I put $20 on him in Vegas a couple of weeks ago at 15-1 so I am a happy camper! It was so cool seeing his family with him after it was over...
  19. This is a post I want to like and dislike at the same time...Luckily, it is a good ending. Stay strong UKMF...
  20. That sounds awesome! My wife and I are going in August on a 10 day Baltic Sea cruise...leaves from Copenhagen and goes to Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, St. Petersburg, Russia and the northern tip of Germany (will make a day trip that day to Berlin to see the wall)...cannot wait!!
  21. Keep some granola bars in the pantry and you are good to go in the future...
  22. It did and did not determine the outcome. If they call the double dribble, Auburn wins...almost without question They are up one and throw the ball in from mid court. It's over. However, Auburn could obviously still have won even with the missed call. Give Guy credit. The three he made was cold blooded. He may have very well made the last one if he was not bumped. Drilling the 3 free throws in that situation was again...cold blooded. I cannot blame the refs for missing that double dribble call because it did not even occur to me that it was double dribble. It was just a weird play. Virginia is just living a very charmed life this tourney...they should have lost their last two games but are somehow playing tonight. I have a feeling the tide turns tonight and the breaks go against them...
  23. Not even close. One of the biggest misconceptions in sports is that guys coming off Tommy John surgery are as good or better than before. Most are never as good as they were before. Some do come back very well and I hope he does.
  24. We need to have a contest on BGP...prize for the person who can most accurately predict the date when the Reds score their next run...
