With juco's and all the D1 transfers, many D1 programs fill their rosters without taking HS kids. In many cases hs kids can't contribute for 2 or 3 years or in some cases never. If I'm running a low to mid level D1 program, my core group each year would come via transfers.

I thought I read somewhere that Bart had younger son ? If so, Bath has a solid 9th grade team and that might have been part of the draw. Bath has a nice window to get to the region. This district after Rowan is very average to below average.

I'm thinking this is a first time head coach. If that's true, it will be a solid hire.

Holy cow, Good for him, I like watching kids like him at the hs level, their motor never stops and there very hard to block. He's very lucky to be involved in such a great program, so few kids get to be a part of that during their hs years.

How many of those were freshman? Outside of kick-off teams, moco has played kids both ways for several years. I'm not talking about 1 kid, it's historically several.

Woodstock, I've been known to let out some nastiness at my own garage. I'm confused how you can say cuss words and thats ok, but something else is not ok. I can cover the cuss alphabet in about 7 to 10 seconds. Im must be missing some words.

^^^^^ Guru, This is exactly my problem with schools in ky, namely my local one. I'm still amazed at how secretive ours acts. When the taxpayers vote 6 to 1 for a coaching hire they , desolve the hiring committee, rid themselves of the public eye then try to make a hire based on friendships and buddies. They want zero accountability from the taxpayers, its mind blowing.

I'm hearing his defensive coordinate may be coming I'm also hearing a few names being thrown around for a lineman coach. @ThatGirl, if your son plays it looks to me like he's getting a nice coaching staff put in place. You need to get all your sons friends to come out and play. Like @plantmanky said, 30 kids on a 5a football team don't/won't cut it. Your son needs teammates, even if they only practice hard against him to make him better. Football is the ultimate team sport. High five to Rocky Franz and Kevin Letcher for this hire and the retooling of the staff.

My I64 comment was only ment to point out that transfers can and will come. Bath will need help from somewhere besides Maze to win the region. Their talent pools are simply not that deep. Fleming and Rowan both benefited from transfers during their multi-year region championships, you gotta have'em.

Tough job, due to being in the 11th region. Either they hire the JV coach, or look for a young unknown to get this job.

Hmmmmmmm... My only guess is Maze wants back in the area. He indeed would be a nice pick-up for Bath. Casey co and Bath co are very similar in talent and athletic pools imo. One advantage to Bath may be the ability to draw more transfers due to the easy access to Lexington via I64. Bath is in a district where they should be able to compete every year for region bids. The had their best team in several years, this year. They benefited from 2 or 3 Montgomery and Bryan Station transfers this year. Under achieved a little imo, not getting out of the district. I'm not thinking the pipeline is loaded with loads of talent. If Maze does come, it's either a geographic move or someone in the community is throwing $$$$ around. I do believe Maze applied for these gig a couple years ago, fresh out of Morehead.

Welcome to Moco Jamie!!!! Already hearing Jamie is reaching out to all age groups and making a good first impression. Does anyone know if he is bringing any coaches with him? How many old staff members will stay on? If Jamie can get the numbers up and sustain that for a few years the program has a chance to grow.

Hazard and PCC should at least cover Rhode's coaching stipend, its the least they can do.

I honestly can't believe there were many big names for this gig. The facilities are first class, but at 5A and the interest for football within the school at a 2a to 3a level, this job is a real challenge. The new coach should have support from the school administration and the local community. There doesn't seem to be much pressure to win or grow the program so that's a plus for a relocating coach.

I'll try this again. If Mason wants to bend THEIR rules for their kids one, two or three times that's their business. The only ones who should be calling for the coaches and administration to review/explain their interpretations of THEIR rules is the tax payers/ parents of student athletes. Goldies post was only ment to show a way the other district schools could show their displeasure in Mason's handling of discipline in their athletics. Goldie is not a hater... lol, smh
