I'm usually really excited this time of year. Although Collins has made huge strides, and coach Gaither always has them prepared, Owen County will be too much.

Coach Gaither has really developed this team. There are few coaches in the state that are better.

I believe the sentiment is that Bullitt East plays with a "next man up" approach. Tyler Sharpe is a special player. But Polson and Osbourne would start at any other school in the Louisville area. A very nice luxury to have if you're the head coach. Take those two, along with the 3 to 4 other kids that see time off that bench, and you have a very dangerous team.

Does this really surprise anyone? To stay on a circuit of that level, you have to consistently do 1 of 2 things. Win, or produce pros. They did neither

Coach G always has the boys ready to play. He may be one of the most underrated coaches in the state. Not looking forward to playing Bullitt East Friday. But we've had their number for the last few years.

Collins is going to have a long year. We just don't have the players that we've had in the past. Gaithersburg does a great job of developing chemistry. I'm just hoping the boys can be competitive by the end of the year.

I'm sure they make a good amount of money. But they also have a great reputation of taking care of the teams that attend.

I always look forward to this event. Well run and some great known and unknown talent.

This could be the longest season in Collins' brief history.

Sharpe, Farris, Ezell, and Osbourne will take this team to state.

Their chances at state will definitely be dependent on draw. If they can get out of what is always a tough region. They were very impressive when I saw them in the Collins tournament in June. Played at a much higher pace. Sharpe can do a little of everything and Rakes can get to the basket nearly at will. Osbourne looked to feed the shooters and Farris, who is a load on the block when he posts up. He looks to have developed a short range jumpshot.

So Cordia will take him and make him an 8th grader.

After seeing them at the Collins tournament, I believe they'll win the 6th. Great guard play and a really good inside presence. Their biggest competition will most likely come from Fern Creek, who's in their own district.

I see what you're trying to do. We have enough kids. And coach Gaither always does a great job of preparing them. We don't have a kid that will take over when needed like Kidwell did the last 3 years.

I now completely understand where I was wrong. How crazy of me to think that calling the rosters "laughable" wasn't a knock on the young men that actually showed up to the event. Thanks for straightening me out.

I don't know the selection process for this game, but for you to belittle the rosters is quite pathetic. These are still kids that were recognized because they've played well. Like every other all star game, I'm sure there were opportunities for more high profile players to play, but for whatever reason, they didn't. But there's no excuse for a grown man to make a comment like you just made. Especially when one of your beloved Travelers was in the game.

Depends on what part of Florida he comes from. Aside from a couple of cities, it's not exactly a sophisticated place.

I went for a couple of games yesterday. My Titans are in for a long year. I came away really impressed with Trinity, Ballard, Dunbar, Fern Creek, and Bullitt East. Dunbar and Trinity look to have already settled in to what type of teams they'll be. Ballard seemed to be figuring out their roles, but they'll be very tough as always. Fern Creek and Bullitt East may very well make up the most exciting district around. Both teams pushed the ball at a frenetic pace and were really entertaining to watch. The team that looked great walking on the floor but seemed to struggle the most was Doss. They just looked like they weren't sure of who should do what. Which can definitely happen in June basketball. I didn't get to see Apollo, but the scores that were posted showed that they lost all 3 of their games by double digits. Anyone know if they had their whole team?

They've never been good at pushing the pace. They'd rather guard you then worry about scoring later.

Don't look past Trinity. They will be very tough. This could be Coach Szabo's best TEAM.

Male has been down for too long. It would be nice to see them compete. But you can't draw too many conclusions from a June basketball game.

I just heard about a tournament at Collins this weekend. Aside from Collins I don't know who will be there. If I find out, I'll post on here.

I predict Owen. Collins doesn't have enough this year. We'll be rebuilding. As will Oldham.
