Cats Pause 5th Region Rankings (Preseason)

Featured Replies

I don't know enough about the region, but I'd certainly feel confident in saying it's Taylor County's to lose.

This will be alot tougher for TC this year. North Hardin will be very tough. Jackson is legit; and they only lost one starter from that team last year that played TC tough in the regionals last year. John Hardin will be very good as well; one more year for those freshman and sophomores from last year to grow up. The puzzler in this ranking is Btown. They lost some very significant players from that team last year; I don't know if they will be that strong this year. In either case; TC won't cake walk through this one this year. Looking forward to this one playing out

I wouldn't worry too much about Bardstown being good. Brewer always has them ready to play. He's one of the best.

Couldn't agree more.

I think LaRue could take a step forward. Yes they lost Sheffer and Wiseman, but they gained Goode from Bethlehem (and added his dad to the coaching staff).

Dawson and Goode will make a ton of shots from the perimeter, while King, Cobb and Harris were much different players at the end of last season than at the beginning.

LaRue's got a nice young group.

John Hardin (Witherspoon) and Central Hardin (Nichols) both have personnel issues they were NOT planning on having at this point last year (or at the end of last season). We'll see how they respond.

Taylor's the favorite and should be. However, Taylor didn't exactly blow the doors off North and this time, North returns almost everything and Taylor has to replace some good players (Berry and Webster especially, but Chewning had his moments).

Taylor might very well run the table in the region. Wouldn't surprise me.

But also wouldn't surprise me seeing North catch Taylor on an off night.

Don't see Taylor losing to anyone else (maybe Bardstown. Maybe, but not holding out hope).

Bardstown may well be good; but top 3 good I don't know. The sleeper in all of this is John Hardin. Witherspoon only started the last 5 or 6 games of the season last year, they will miss him but not as much as people think. Pearson and Guillory should be ready to make the next step this year and help Matt Miller out this year. Pearson had a very good summer and has interest from numerous schools. North Hardin is a Rupp contender, I don't think they need an off night to beat TC. This is all contigent on who TC has "recruited" into town this year. Going to be very interesting

One team can beat Taylor-that's North. North return most everybody and if they catch Taylor on an off night, they can beat TC.

A hand full of the other teams might be in play if TC was upset by North in the Semis.

I do expect Larue to take a step forward but their goal will be to beat Green & Caverna in the 18th district

1. Quentin Goodin-Taylor County

2. Matt Miller-John Hardin

3. Tony Jackson-North Hardin

4. David Sloan-Taylor County

5. Mason Faulkner-Caverna

6. Dominique Compton-Green County

7. Will Alexander-North Hardin

8. Chance Melton-Adair County

9. Santrel Farmer-Bardstown

10. Patrick Nichols-Central Hardin

I've heard some say Mason Faulkner is one of the best players in the state. To see him ranked 5th in the region tells me the 5th Region is loaded with talent. Should be fun times for people in the 5th Region this season.

Should be a fun year; more surprising than people anticipate. BTW Nichols from Central unfortunately has a torn ACL and is out for the year from what I'm told. Tough break for a good kid. North will be all TC will want to deal with this year...mark it down lol

I've checked the list out and very much agree that Taylor and North Hardin are the top 2...as far as Bardstown they don't have anyone over 6'2.. Going to be hard to guard the rim.

Hands down Gooden Sloan and Jackson are the top 3 players.

One team people are sleeping on is Nelson County. They have 4 starters back and improved . I also found it odd that Cornish nor Ryan was mentioned. Cornish can jump with the best of them and Ryan hit 65 3s last year.

Going to be a fun year

Gatewood mention on yesterday that they have a transfer that he can't speak on at this moment. Any news on who this person is?

It's the kid from Warren East I believe.
