  1. The combined wins of Johnson Central opponents - 15 The combined wins of Ashland opponents - 32 Is this fact relevant? If Ashland wins two plays they are 7-1 and the armchair gang would be talking it up. It would take a hero's effort to win in Paintsville Friday night. The last two visits have come down to the final play of the game. This has a chance to be closer than most expect.
  2. Paintsville picked up a burner who played for the first time last week. Could be a different Paintsville team that has played all year. This game will be won upfront. That with the home field will provide enough for the Raeland win. May be a little closer than you think however.
  3. Shout out to Lil Spindoc for carding a round that was one stroke shy of qualifying for the State. He is just a sophomore, hope he works hard and earns that spot. He may be a better golfer than hunter.

  5. If Rowan can have sustained drives it will be close. Ashland will have to be better up front this week. I believe there will be a few dingers hit by the Tomcat backfield if they get enough chances. Pretty obvious if you dont give up the long one you can beat Ashland. Raceland gave up two and an ill timed interception or the Tomcats are 0-4. I realize they may not be state title contenders, but they have not played near the level they should be playing at. It is a combination of X's and O's and Jimmy and Joe's. I hope both sides of that aisle are working to get better.
  6. Your therapist would tell you the nerve that was struck actually belongs to you. Why? Becuase your only angle on this thread is to stop criticizing the coaches. You dont like the armchair observations. My CSI brains says "Why doesnt he like this?" Hmmmmmmmm....... Did this happen to him? Honestly I dont give a rat's hind end what you think about me. I just like a little confrontation every now and then. In the end, I dont see myself as a bad guy though and as proof I will give you a third fact for your collection. I did send an encouraging word to Coach Love this week. It just wasnt on here because I dont think he believes coaches should be on here.
  7. Would it make everybody feel better if I talked to Coach Love and even though I dont understand the schemes sometimes, I will encourage him to work hard? Or have I done this? Who knows? I live too close to Ashland to know what is going on. Heck I live too close to even know what is going on behind the scenes. Ah well maybe I can help some team in Western KY.
  8. Theme song Mirror, mirror on the wall Tell me, mirror, what is wrong? Can it be my De La clothes Or is it just my De La song? What I do ain't make-beleive People say I sit and try But whan it comes to being De La It's just me myself and I It's just me myself and I It's just me myself and I It's just me myself and
  9. I share my thoughts and observations about Ashland football in Ashland football forums. It is true that Iam4thecats has paid his money and has every right to criticize me. Could a moderator please open a thread in the appropriate forum for Iam4thecats to post his criticisms?

"I've been under a tremendous amount of stress all year." This is how Love said he feels. It is on another thread started by RAM. I am glad you are more concerned about my thoughts than he is. If he wants to know how I feel all he has to do is ask me. He knows me by name and he knows I was a supporter of him when Hart retired and he knows that I believe it is his job to right the ship. He also knows me well enough that he asked me personally about me being involved in some way. So if you are worried about the relationship between Coach Love and I no need to worry. If you are worried that my thoughts influence or pressure him in any way, you can relax, he and I understand each other completely.
  11. I appreciate the confidence. Evidently your child has played for me at some point. Maybe even on one of our State Championship teams. While there is truth in my sarcasm, it is sarcasm nevertheless. If my observations bother you that much I apologize. Do you email the guys on Sportscenter that make observations that upset you too? I hope that you were not confused by my statements and this is some misunderstanding. As an Ashland fan, I was encourged by some of the things I saw yesterday. Hence my post. I am also confused by some things. Hence my post. I believe the next four are winnable, I believe that with some momentun and a few breaks maybe we can upset Johnson Central. Never once have I asked for the Coach's head. I fully believe he should have the opportunity to right the ship. If this forum isnt the place to share my observations, then I am wrong forgive me. If it is an appropriate environment for people to share their thoughts then you can, hmmmmmmmmmm you can continue to read my thoughts.
  12. To me its like saying I have the best ball handler and passer that I have ever had and then playing him at the 2 or posting him up.
  13. After watching a little more, there are assignments defensively that I dont understand. We nullify what our defenders can do by putting them in positions with assignments that dont promote their strengths. While Rowan may not break the long one, I am afraid they will have 10 + play drives that not only result in possible points and field position but will limit the number of offensive plays Ashland will run.
  14. Stopped by practice this evening and it was more spirited than usual. I saw a few changes and heard a few accountabity challenges. A couple of winnable home games are what the doctor ordered. While they are winnable they are not gimmes, Ashland must play well and improve every week if they want a shot at the district title
  15. If you need that much pop corn you must be reading all the facebook drama.
  16. How long did it take to know our President is inadequate?
  17. Victories would help for sure. If they stub their toe once in the next four weeks they will have a losing record.
  18. You have never done anything "for fear of" in your life.
  19. I should have seen that coming. I should have recognized the fool's gold in the Mason scrimmage as well.
  20. Better get another box. That will not last long enough.
  21. Coach Hart was 2-9 one season if I remember correctly. I would guess that one season would not spell the end, however consecutive subpar seasons might. If he feels pressure now, next year is potentially worse.
  22. I had a chance to watch this game on film. Ironton had their way with the Ashland offensive and defensive linemen. I also did not understand why the defensive scheme was to utilize their best linebacker to try and eat up the center and fullback blocks. I do think that Coach was right by stating they should keep things simple. Ashland is just overmatched on the line of scrimmage right now on both sides of the football.
  23. So what you are saying is we dont have a say in our laws?
  24. I told my son, if it were me I would go pray with Coach Grahm when he played against Rowan. I am tired of sacrificing my religious freedoms as a Christian for the sake of tolereance.
  25. Too many docs and not enough apples. Just sour grapes. Ashland will very likely be 1-3 after this week. The schedule then gets a little easier until Johnson Central. If they stub their toe against Rowan, Greenup, or Boyd they will be 4-5 and possibly a 3 seed. It is obvious there need to be some changes. What are those? I dont know. Suggestions? I would be interested to see what a simple quick pitch would do for our offense. If the strength is speed, why are we reluctant to try and get outside? Maybe you should switch the O coordinators spots, when Hart was coach, Dowdy was in the booth not on the sidelines, switch he and Tackett and see if it isnt more comfortable to all. Defensivley, teach these kids to play for third down, I would bet the rate of third down conversions in the last two years is over 60%. Also, if kids are not aggressive by nature take a chance or two and send some kids on blitzes. If you put them in an aggressive role they will by definition raise the level of aggressiveness. Most of all I would say stop beating kids up. I have said before they wont play hard if you dont have their back. If you are not willing to celebrate their good plays with as much enthusiasm and you criticize their bad plays you dont have their back. I dont have all the answers and I am not on the inside so I dont know all the problems. However to me these things are pretty obvious. My last suggestion would be to see what the former Highlands coach would want in the form of compensation to spend a week with the team and do a little consulting. Someone like this could hold the one key that would unlock the potential.
