  1. Michaela is a very humbling young lady and is just happy for what she gets. I can tell you this, she works as hard as any player I've ever seen. The most important thing is she loves playing the game. And God blessed her with her skill, teammates, coaches and family who has always supported her. A list like this means nothing if the character of players aren't recognized. Stats and scoring are one thing but the worth to a team is totally different. I enjoyed watching her play throughout her career so far and look forward to seeing her play at TMC.
  2. I really liked the way they played last year. I didn't realize they lost that much. I still think this will be a great match up.
  3. Danville knock off a very good NCC team last year in the All A. I don't believe they lost anyone either. Could be the best match up in the first round of the tournament.
  4. NKY Ref's are better than most in the state! They call the game more consistent than most of the state. I've been around the state to watch game. If you think our refs are bad, pack up your bags and go check out the states officials. Southeastern Kentucky officiate from their own rule book and they'll tell you that. The Western part of the state does a good job. It really depends on where you are and what you are used to. Like RCC9 stated, make the adjustment and play on. No one is going to be the same no matter where you go. Don't let the officiating dictate the game. I know easier said than done but good coaches can do just that.
  5. Would love to see them come to NKY next year. I'm sure it can be arranged. Officiating is very different so I don't know if they want to do this. NCC's gym is nothing like the gym in BC. NCC's coach contacted BC to get this game scheduled. Maybe the coach from BC could reach out to NCC and make it happen. I know they have no problem playing anyone in the state. That's the only way you get better.
  6. Not sure UCONN could have come away with a win in Breathitt Co. tonight with the officials in this game. Congrats to the girls from BC on the win. They play hard and don't quit. Beautiful gym and the administration was very respectful. NCC had 3 starters foul out and the foul differential was very lopsided. Two girls from BC left the game with injuries and I pray they are okay.
  7. yes but they are deep. Chessie is out for now with some medical issues. I hope she gets back soon. It will make this team a real state contender.
  8. I believe #20 is Macy Wright. She is a very good player! She played for the Shinning Stars. She has committed to play at NKY on the golf team. I believe she had several offer to play basketball but choose to follow her love in golf. I loved watching her play, very talented athlete. Best of luck to her in college. I will miss watching her play basketball.
  9. You are correct the coach was well aware of the conflicts months in advance. This young lady was very upset and never wanted to let her teammates down. If you know the young lady you know how competitive she is. She had to make a very difficult and emotional decision. I agree it sucks for both teams who depend on her to play. But in the small schools they need kids playing multiple sports to be competitive. So at the beginning of the season if the coach says you can't miss anything and can't play AAU. She decides not to play softball then she still but in same situation of letting her team down since she's played 3 year already. The coach knew what was put in front of him and made the decision accordingly. I hate to see that so much of this is put on the young lady and not the initial decision. Never the less I think she will learn a very valuable lesson thru this situation. She has had many negative attacks and comments made about her and to her. Doesn't seem fair to her. Hopefully the team can make a real run for the 9 region title. I know she will be benched for not making the All A and that is justified and acceptable. I hope softball one day gets the same recognition as basketball and football.
  10. 2015 class is loaded. My pick is Robinson from Ashland. Very nice all round player.
  11. :idunno: I watched the tryout and was surprised myself. All the girls played hard but I feel the team was determined before the tryouts began. I don't know how you can make decisions in that format. It was chaos to say the least. It is what it is and congrats to the girls who made it. Good luck to them and I hope they represent our state well.
  12. And you don't want me to get started either... Does your AD and Administator's know your causing this much trouble over a basketball tournanent? Let it go, it is what it is! It's all about the KIDS not Trophey's! You won't get one complaint from schools involved.
  13. You sound like a jealous hater and that's okay since you don't think your daughter has a chance to win a championship. OC is a small A school who has just won 2 of the past 3 years. It's about the kids in small schools. Ask them if it doesn't mean anything to them. Who gives a crap what haters like you think about it. It's a great, well run tounament and means a ton to the kids and schools who play in it. If you don't like it than work harder on getting your team to the KHSAA tournament. Small schools across the state mark thier calendar every year for the All A. I agree the state could make all sports like football. I would love to see that done. But since you're talking about Highlands how many state championship would your school have if it wasn't divided up in classes. Your school is very proud of it's championships and would be on the side of the All A tournament I would think. Otherwise you wouldn't have that proud tradition. Just saying, leave it be until the powers at hand make the change...
  14. This was some of the best we've seen all season. There will always be a few calls missed but a good job overall.
  15. She played well if she isn't. I would say yes. Does anyone have an injury update on Ava Abner. I hated seeing her hit the deck and get hurt.
  16. Yeah the earlier post stated that HHS would win by double figures. This is girls basketball and anyone can win on any given night. HHS is a very good team and play hard. Game plan worked for them as they tied the game late with a chance to win. They will meet again and it will be another Classic game. Great job by both teams! I have to say the game was very well officiated as well.
  17. I hope HHS presses NCC. It will be fun to watch. Home court advantage maybe?
  18. Don't let one game fool you. Boone played man to man defense for only a few minutes as NewCath took the lead early. When they went to a box in one, NewCath struggled. Once this young team get confortable playing against a zone defense they'll be fine.
  19. It was at St. Joe's Cold Spring 2 years ago, but good question.
  20. Point guard from that St. Mary's team went to NewCath and was a key player. Shanon and King are really good players who went to Brossart. Brossart gets another good post player from St. Philips in Schultz. Solid freshman class. Davenport is a really good player and will help NewCath. Good point guards are hard to find. The pipeline for NewCath is solid. They have several girls from the St. Joe's 7th grade (now 8th graders) who won the Diocesean championship going to NewCath. Several other girls from St. Therese, Holy Trinity, St. Catherine and St. Thomas will help. Pipeline, serious? Where is Brossarts pipeline? St. Mary's had one really good class and Tom did a great job coaching them!
  21. The point guard from NewCath Michaela Ware maybe. She only played Varsity as a freshman and got some good minutes. I know she gets overlooked because of her size but plays well. I think if you ask the players she will be one mentioned.
  22. This team will have it's growing pains with a new coach and young players. They have the Keirnan girl who will be a good player but all the other up and coming players have to step up and play well. Losing 4 starting Seniors is a tuff challenge for any team. They didn't play many players off the bench last year. The back up point guard and the Mayes girls seen some playing time as freshman. Scoring points is where I see them having issues. But with time they will be a team to watch out for.
