NDA is 4-2 vs teams on this list, losing to Walton and SK, Connor is 4-2 vs teams on this list with losses to Highlands and Holy Cross, Highlands is 6-2 vs teams on this list with losses to NDA and NCC. One issue I don't see being considered is that some freshman play up because the program does not have the numbers to have three complete teams. Especially at the end of the year when kids go down to injury, you have to play some freshmen up, or your jv players getting varsity minutes will play more than necessary. I agree with On Point in that each school should put its best team on the court in any post season game, at any level.

SK came out with the funk they showed at Connor in the first half. They only scored 6 points on two threes in the 2 nd quarter. They keep trying to get the ball in post. The entry passes are improving, but either they don't use the backboard, or they simply don't go up strong enough. Still too many points left on the court from missed point blank shots. Paige B. came out on fire in the second haf scoring an mid range an 3 point goals. She and Cox had one nice bucket on a high low feed. SK scored 27 in the 3rd after scoring only 17 in the whole 1st half. NCC made their run in the 4th and fell short. SK was up 48 37 with 6 min to go and only scored 3 points the rest of the way. Big girls need to learn to take it up strong, with two hands, use the back board and release the ball high when shooting. Kiernan is a stud post player.

This was a game of runs. SK had theirs in the 3rd, NCC had theirs in the 4th, but fell short. Kiernan and Bosse were the scorers tonight. SK's bigs could look at Kiernan's tapes to learn post offense. Nicole has all the moves.

Win or lose, SK needs to figure out how to score against 3-2 and 2-3 zones. They need to convert a higher percentage of point blank opportunities. Defensive intensity needs to be consistent.

I think we are deep enough in the season to conclude that, based upon collective performance, there does not appear to be a team in NKy poised to make a deep run into the state tournament. To me, there is no team that is consistently strong game in and game out. Of coarse, I hope there is one team that will prove me wrong!

Any offers on the table yet?

It seems that kids hit some kind of wall at this point in the season. Some form of mental fatigue maybe?

I saw this score on the scoreboard and it caught my attention. Anybody have any details from this game? I was surprised to read NDA had to come back to win this game.

They must have random seeding in that district. No reward for regular season performance.

I just looked at the rest of SK's schedule. SK was at Connor, at Boone, and at NDA. Now , they have NCC and Highlands on the road as well. More opportunities to work on post offense in hostile environments before regionals! The one saving grace, NCC and Highlands play in the first round of district meaning one of those teams season is going end quickly. I don't think either of these teams will be focusing on SK!

I was not able to make this game, but the report I got was that the guards improved their post entry passes and there was some post scoring. There is still work to be done on post offense, but this does represent progress.

If you noticed the JVs on Saturday, they actually executed the game plan to near perfection. Even against Connor's varsity after playing the JV game. The varsity group is taking longer to learn to read defenses than the JVs and it is resulting in poor shot selection. The post play has been soft , and the post entry passes have been weak. High percentage looks have not been converted from the post and it has become deflating. There must be renewed commitment to score from the post or SK will continue to struggle with zone defenses against the better teams. Defensive intensity has not been there either. This is all correctable.

I concur that SK was flat, again. Curious as to why the JV was so sharp, even against Connor's starters, when the Varsity was so flat. Too many tough games on the road in too short a period of time maybe? SKs bigs were either tired, flat or distracted. So many shots missed at point blank range!

It depends upon which SK team shows up. If SK attacks the zone with post play and finishes at the rim, they will be in good shape. If SK settles for threes against the zone and fails to press when prompted, they will be in trouble. SK has superb team speed and quickness , and usually has large rebound advantage. Is Connor's point guard back from the ankle sprain? SK is well prepared for this game, unlike the game earlier this week at Boone.

Did Cooper practice on thanksgiving day prior to the championship game? Same policy applies.

Unfortunately, talent does not prevent you from laying an egg once in a while! Kids get two days off and play like they have forgotten everything they have been taught!

I don't know, but I'm not sure it matters. Boone has the personnel to run Matteoli's offense and it would be devastating at the High School level. 15 seconds max between snaps. You have two plays called every down, one running, one passing. QB makes the read at the line. NKy has never seen anything like it. It would be a new standard of offense. Defenses would wilt by the 4th quarter. If not hired as head coach, he would have to get serious consideration as OC.
