Big Fundamental

This should be really good. Some big, strong, physical players vs. smaller, more finesse players, with a good amount of skill (& Draud--highly skilled).

Jolly is more than just physical. He is also skilled. It's going to take more than a big body to slow him down. GRC appears to have some big bodies, and nice guard play, but don't they also go to Campbell County to play this regular season game? Or, do they do a home/home?

Ins't Michael Spencer a senior? Josh Baker a junior?

Isn't this Ryle team supposed to have some really nice young guards this year? I can't remember names, but I've been told in the past that this is the year of the unveiling of some nice young ball players. Not sure how it affects them in the rankings/region, but they should be vastly improved, no?

GRC has a little bit of everything, but they have no one to stop Jolly. CC can also get physical with Graham, Canada, and the crew. I think that game becomes a real battle. I have CC in the end when it matters.

Totally agree here! Kirk is a great coach and I believe he turns MC back into what it once was. Also think his young asst Gilbert is an excellent young coach.

What was the score in the scrimmage? Was South Laurel competitive? I am continuing to hear more and more about this Cooper team that makes it seem like they’re going to be really, really good again.

Woww. Heart breaking even in a scrimmage. FD will be tough this year. Well coached, long & athletic, and some experience.

I always read on here how good Coach Snapp is, so I’m sure he’ll figure it out in a way that all parties involved will be happy. Though, I’m sure no resolution involving this young man actually playing will make the district and region opponents happy.

SK beat North College Hill handily. Neace & Davis were big scorers in the game. CovCath handled Withrow with ease, as expected. Green and Disken were impressive. Dixie lost to LaSalle. I don’t think Dixie is the 3rd ranked team in the 9th.

Is there even anything that should be done? A kid that left, came back, and never played with the other school. Did he play summer June ball with Newport?

I like Centers game. Should have played more last year to prepare him for this season. I do think it’ll be his task to bare—taking on the McNeil role. Should pair nicely with Spencer and Walters. I just want to see where the scoring will come from. I know Sullivan can also manage a grind it out, 46-40 kind of game.

W. Vieth is a stud! But, I heard he is 16 already. Pretty early into his sophomore year. Didn’t know that. I also really like the leadership and toughness of Westerbeck. He can play and is fearlesss! St. Henry will be able to compete in this region, and I think they can give Dixie a run for their money. Faust does a really nice job.

Will Neace be the best player in the region (outside of Miles-committed to X)?? He’s just a sophomore. If he’s the best, that’s pretty telling of his skill, and the region.

Miles was out most of the season. Big difference. Collins will have two solid guards, McKnight the better of the two-in my opinion, but they also lost some strong, hard working seniors that could do some work inside.

Who will bet he top 3 players to watch for BB this year? I know JD is one of them. They’ve lost a string of solid players the last several years.

I agree with the McFarland statement. I hope Ryle faithful continue to be patient. Knowledgeable, hard working young coach. Ryle just hasn’t had the players recently.

No Kunkel for sure. Not many teams have that. Also, no Sean McNeil, again, not many teams do. But, does this team have a Chris McNeil? He was a tough, hard nosed kid who loved competition and played with no fear. He was a really good leader, as well.

Harding was a statistical double-double last year. If he can do that again, they could be a problem. That said, they did lose to an under-manned Holy Cross-team in the region. Not sure if that still plays because teams change, but with 4 of those starters coming back, it shows vulnerability.

We can say there have been good teams there, and bad coaches. But, if the players, and the coaches haven’t made it out of the region, who’s to say the talent has actually been there to do it. Some make it seem like it’s so easy to win a region. I don’t remember many/any all-State players coming out of SK in the last 10-15 years. Some real nice players, yes. But, not a “star”. Maybe it is the coaches, but the players must execute, hit shots, get rebounds, and play defense. No?

A lot of chatter about Neace leaving SK, and them missing her leadership. Well, of course, you're going to miss that as soon as she leaves. But, do you not think that another player (or, players) will take on this role. Good seniors leave all the time. Its time for a new girls to step up. I think SK will have plenty of them chomping at the bit to step into that role. Stowers will find one, if one doesn't emerge naturally.

I thought the same thing about Pangallo. Varsity player from the jump. Maybe we're wrong.

He would have had a breakout year last year, if not for injuries. Tough & Strong around the basket. How has he progressed in the perimeter game? If one dimensional, could be easy to game plan.

I really enjoy watching dethridge (Spelling?), as he is a nice all around player, who is unselfish. His game has come a long way over the years, and he'll be a key piece of Beechwood's success. How will this team fare without the leadership of Toebbe?
