On paper this district is Cooper's to lose, but that's why we play the games. Ryle had a less than stellar season, but were extremely young last year and was playing better by the end. Cooper's length and athleticism will be tough to overcome, but this district is always a toss up until the end.

I think Tyler Kaiser makes Ryle markedly better, and you have to love what Rankin gives you!

Boone County lost four senior starters in Raymond Rogers, Zach Gott, Ethan Haynes and Ethan Robbins. All four had great senior seasons and were great leaders. Parker Kyle and Julian Velazquez are both returning, as they were the starter and sixth man respectively. Both should have great senior seasons, Kyle playing the swing man role and Velasquez is non-stop hustle. Sophomore Parker Fields and Freshman Cole Shumate should step up and contribute heavily for Boone this season. Both played freshman, JV, and Varsity last season, with Fields being the leading scorer on the freshman and JV teams. Dakota Finn will be a great leader at the point for Boone this season, along with Senior Brandon Williams. Tate Hermann is a rapidly improving big man who should help immensely on the defensive end. Senior RJ Summers had a great summer and worked hard on his game, the football tight end will be a force in the paint for Boone. Adam Hicks had a good sophomore season last year and will look to continue the great summer he had. This team will be young but it’s a tight knit group who will gel pretty quickly. Look for them to progress as the season gets into high gear.

1. Cooper--Not even close. Defense will be stifling as usual. Walters, Houston and Spencer just way too much.

2. Conner--Jalen Scott is a very different player, vast improvement. Probably the best shooting team in the district.

T3. Boone--Will definitely challenge Ryle. A regular season split is probable.

T3. Ryle--Cant score without Rankin, he isn't healthy. No shooters, bigs other than Rankin don't play big.

Rankin is top notch & he's stayed @ Ryle when many felt he'd go elsewhere the past few years. David McFarland is a great coach, role model, & knows basketball.

I agree with the McFarland statement. I hope Ryle faithful continue to be patient. Knowledgeable, hard working young coach. Ryle just hasn’t had the players recently.

This is an extremely biased statement and really unfair to the kids playing currently, that have played in the past AND especially the players that stopped playing while still attending Ryle. These posts endorsing Coach Mcfarland are baseless.

Are you affiliated with the Ryle program? Your endorsement is based on what? Wins, grades, player development? Vince stayed because of the friendships he has developed at school not out of devotion to the coach.

It is probably based on the fact Ryle has only had 1 all-region player in the last 5 years (Rankin). It not like they have been rolling out region player after region player without getting results.
