This team is nowhere near the 2001 team.

Congrats to CC, they wanted it more. Mayfield is just not a very good football team. Which ever team makes it outa district play better step it up cause the 2nd district will embarrass the 1st district. I dont think either team looked outstanding. AS for the 93 team they were 12-3. I think the you might be remembering either the 2001 team which started out horrible but took Danville down to the wire in the substate game,which set the stage for the 2002 squad that went undefeated. The 2004 team had a bad regular season but made substate. Mayfield hasnt had a losing regular season since the early 1960's.

35-28 was the score and Critt people were clamering for the next year because just like in 07 you played us close but what happened in 05? Critt came to town with confidence from 04 and as I recall the score was 34-6. Not saying that history will repeat itself but that just because it was a close game last year it will probably not have any bearing on the outcome of this game. Critt may play them close or even beat them but in my opinion if Mayfield plays this game ready and takes care of business I look for at least a 3 TD victory.

Name any other time. My opinion is that IF Mayfield plays 4 good quarters they handle Critt easily. Critt may have a team that can beat them and if they do I say congrats.

I think Mayfield handles Critt easily, also. Critt.Co. has played Mayfield close one time. Mayfield is not that bad, they are just not what we expect. If Mayfield can finally put together 4 solid quarters I look for around a three TD victory.

Mayfield by the LIT ratings are a 50 point underdog.

FC has way to many atheletes for anyone in 2A to compete. They are an impressive ball team. Mayfield hung in there with them for a quarter and a half but after the fumble on the kickoff it was off to the races for FC. I dont see any weakness in FC. I'd like to see the team in 2A that could beat them, I dont think they are out there. As for Mayfield, I see good things in the future. Mayfield is still a young team that will get better and should go deep in the playoffs.

Good points,FC. I'm using this game as an early season test to see how we will fair. I think the coach's are pleased somewhat with how Mayfield has done in their two scrimmages. We have played two very good teams in the scrimmages. I saw one and liked what I saw.

You could be right but why do you think that? I would say FC should be favored but I think and hope Mayfield could win. Mayfield has plenty of speed to match up with FC but even with a Card lose and FC is as good as expected and we play them close, I will be happy.

I talked to a very knowledgable fan who was there and wouldn't sugar coat anything. Nor would I ever get on here and say anything that I didn't think was true.

I wasn't there but my report was that Mayfield beat Christian Co. in every phase. I heard a score of around 28-14.

Is Beechwood about where they should be this time of year? And are they as good as you expected? Is Beecwood a fast team or power team or a blend?

The score of the scrimmage was Milan's varsity 2 td's with a missed extra point and a field goal to Mayfield's 1 score. The Mayfield Messenger says the same thing. I'm not going to be as harsh as Mr Toothpick was about the scrimmage as I thought we played very competive with their varsity.Milan had the better team but we played with them and we have lots of room for growth.Milan's JV team scored so much against ours it would be easy to get a score or so mixed in with varsity team.

Mr Guru, It's too early to compare this team. Ft Campbell might be a good indicator.

The score was !6 to 7 Milan. Milan is very good and I thought we pretty much stayed with them. We had 1 turnover that led to a td for them but all in all I bet the coach's were pleased with Mayfield's efforts. Playing this calibar of a team exposing your weakness's so hopefully the coach's can correct a few of those. I think Mayfield can be right in there to do some damage in 1A if we dont have a meltdown like last year.

Mayfield will still win the district. I dont see anybody beating them unless we have a melt down like last year. Hard to say how this team will be state wise but I'm thinking we are two years away and then some very nice talent is on its way.

Critt Co will be good. Mayfield will be ok also. I'm told the Richardson kid has more upside than just about anyone on the team.Big, strong ,fast and will be just a sophmore.Get these kids in the weight room and state championships will follow.

I will miss this bunch as I do all the others.
