Mayfield was more physical, more diverse and the coaches had a very good game plan for Critt. Co. We shut down Gray which was the main reason they could do so little. I also thought Critt. got out of things they normally do to start the game and it backfired on them. Critt. is a physical team but lacks overall team speed which Mayfield is very abundant in. By the second score you knew this game was over. We should see Critt. again unless they lay an egg somewhere. Like some I have talked to I dont know if it in our best was interest to beat Critt. so bad for the over confidence issue that may or may not come up. This game should establish (what Mayfield fans have known) to some of you here that Mayfield is one of the very top teams in class 1A.

Mayfield up to this point is ranked exactly where they should be. They have beaten all very convincingly. Mayfield is in a small group of teams that are being discussed for a state title. I think thats really all you can ask to this point. Friday night will bring it more into focus.

I also thought it was strange that we weren't in the pick 10 games this week. Being a BG preps #2 and #4 going at it in 1A.

I agree if Mayfield can't handle them with ease then BG probably won't happen or if they got there they wouldn't win. But I look for Mayfield to roll. CC may shut down 1 or 2 players but not all. The question to me is what can CC do if JD Gray gets shut down? If CC gets behind can they come back, Mayfield has done this beating Trousdale Co the #1 2A school in Tenn. I'm looking for a 2 plus td victory.

Beechwood seems to have found its groove.

I'd say the top 4 or 5 are about right. Anything else is a guess. In about 2 weeks the polls don't matter anyway. How you did in your district and getting home field is what its about.

Danville has always been one of the great programs in Kentucky. The Mayfield folks have much respect for them. I look for them to turn things around fast.

CC doesnt match up very well with Mayfield.

I am now a Fort Knox fan.

I've never in one post have said Mayfield will be in Bowling Green. I have said they have a very good chance. I will say with confidence that LCA, Mayfield or Beechwood will be class 1A champs.

It comes down to this , Mayfield has a very solid team with great speed, solid line play, good special team play and good qb play with intelligence. I dont know who these Rams people are but I'm beginning to think they really dont know 1A football. We know LCA has a good team and maybe they are the best team. I dont know that because I havent seen them play except on the internet. I know Beechwood has a good team but I also know its not as good as in years past. Do I think they can win class 1A? Yes is my answer because I know they will be a tough out and what they have done in the past. Do I think Mayfield can win class 1A? Yes, because over the years just like the Beechwoods and the Danville's and the NCC teams we have seen what kind of team it takes to win a state title. Mayfield has that kind of team regardless of whom they have played. Anyone that has seen Mayfield play this season and knows 1A football knows they are a legit title contender.

Some of the teams Mayfield has played are not as good as usual. Graves is a solid team and Tilghman had plenty of talent. Mayfield did play play Trousdale Co Tenn. who were ranked Number 1 and defending state champs in 1A. Our district is not great with some teams but CC is ranked 3rd. I think someone like westsider who usually is very knowledgeable and unbiased might be able to give a prespective on the Cards.

Of the 18 starters, how many play both ways?

Top 4 in my book are: LCA Mayfield Beechwood Critt Co Not really sure why a few think the road still goes through Beechwood this season. what they did last year was last year. As for LCA I know they are good and they might be the favorite. But are they a solid favorite? I think not. The central and northern part of Ky are very well represented here and have more voices so I expect to hear more of you touting those teams from that area. Having seen Mayfield play in all their 15 or 16 state title games I know when we have a contender or a pretender and this years team is a solid contender and it will take a very very good Class 1A team to knock them out. I have seen some tape on LCA and they have a very solid team and wouldnt be surprised to see them win it all. As for Beechwood I know they will be a tough out but they travel west this year so I like the wests odds. I doubt if any of you have seen Mayfield play this season but you will in about a month and a half. And Jason you tout Bwood like I do Mayfield and while Bwood may have some fine young talent in the wings , we do also , I believe we will be right in there for the next 4 years fighting for titles.
