Mayfield will be in the hunt now every year. Where as right now we have rebuilding years with teams that dont have realistic chances. The reason being is that in class 1A at this moment there are several more teams you have to go through.

This is the first game that will show the Cards what they do right or wrong.I look for this to be a tight game within 6 or 7 points. Mayfield has a nice defense but the offense is going to have to put up points and use the clock to help out the few players that dont go both ways. Last years game was over by half time because of mental errors and turnovers and if that happens again with this very young team , the same thing could happen.

Truthfully, I don't like it. I think it waters it down. Does this mean Mayfield and Beechwood will have to travel to each others home field? That will be one heck of a ride.

Milan was supposed to have handed it to Mayfield today. Milan had alot of returning players especially in the line. I am surprised at this outcome. Mayfield should hold its own against most class 1A schools this year.

I have always had lots of respect for Danville's program and I think they will probably win 1A. I also think Holy Cross will lots to say whether Danville runs the table.

I hope Mayfield and Beechwood both stay in 1A. I also believe Mayfield was the better team in 95. They won.

Where did the Deihl kid go to play college ball?

Westsider, Mayfield beat Bardstown which was ranked #1 going into that game. Several Danville people who were at that game said we were a much better team than Danville. I don't know what more Mayfield could have done. NCC was the best team by far in 1A. I will say this, Bardstown might have been able to give NCC a better game because of their speed.

Mayfield has plenty of firepower for the 1st region.

Mayfield is about 4 to 7 this season but they have some nice freshmen coming up. Also Mayfield never got the credit they deserved last year during the regular season. Mayfield was the 2nd best team in 1A without a doubt but was ranked about 4 or 5 all season. 1 Danville 2 Beechwood 3 Ncc 4 LHC 5 Mayfield Only the top 4 have a chance to win the 1A title

NCC finally beats Mayfield and the Cards are finished. Mayfield has been a contender for AA and A titles for the last 30 years and hopefully many more. I think calling Mayfield a thing of the past is showing football ignorance. Kinda like some fans calling Ncc chokers because they couldn't win the big games in years past. About Mayfield team this year. They will be young but they have some good talent coming up and they should win the region but thats about it. 07 and 08 should be very good teams.

Congrats to NCC, you were a great team, the best Mayfield played this season and you earned the state championship. Sam Diehl was unbelievable, he had nice zip on his ball and was very accurate plus his receivers did an excellent job catching the ball. I thought NCC's line did a great job on offense and defense. All in all it was a great effort on NCC's part. Mayfield had a great season and deserved to get as far as they did. It was a great ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. My stock line this year was " it's going to take a heck of a class 1A team to beat Mayfield". NCC was one heck of a class 1A team.

I listened and all they wanted to talk about was Trinity- STX. I was hoping for a more diversified show.

I dont think Mayfield will rely just on the run unless it's successful. Mayfield can pass the ball and will if need be. This thread is similar to the Bardstown thread which went along the lines of "our speed is going to kill you" and "track speed is a wonderfull sight in the open field". Funny thing it didn't happen often enough. NCC has a fine team and I'm looking forward to seeing them and I'm sure Vicars and Biehl are the real deal but we got some deals too. I can't wait to show the deal behind door #1 first.

I voted for Mayfield because thats where my heart is but in truth nobody at this point really knows how these teams match up and this is more of a popularity contest that no WKY team can win. If Mayfield plays to their strengths and doesn't turn the ball over they will be hard to beat. On the other hand not having seen NCC, I really dont know if Mayfield will have to play over their heads or get lucky breaks to get the victory. Sometime next week I hope to have these anwers.

Mayfield controlled both lines of scrimmage and just plain dominated this game. unoffically i heard 350 yards rushing to 120. Bardstown had 3 big plays but could never really move the ball on Mayfield. Will have more later.

I like Mayfield's odds friday night. Control the line of scrimmage, no turnovers and this game will be ours. Bardstown looked very one diminsional to me what little I saw of them. Sweep left, sweep right and a few belly plays. No kicking game what so ever. Not much of a passing game. Nice defense it seemed. I like Mayfield 26 - 12.

Better than Mayfield of 95? i disagree. But anyway he was a good coach.

Couldn't have said it better CV. We have already faced teams like this especially Hoptown plus Milan Tenn in a scrimmage. Bardstown fans like talk about how your going to deal with their team, Mayfield will have much respect for Bardstown but Mayfield will be more than a handfull for any Ky class A squad.
