Western Hills coach Jody Hellard did resign. He has taken employment with CHI in Lexington and work hours just would not permit him to continue as head coach.

I hear that Western Hills is looking for a Varsity Head Coach. Seems that Jody Hellard has resigned. Anybody confirm??

Was previously JV coach at Franklin County, then took an assistants job at Lexington Lafayette for the 2011-2012 season. Now back to FC as Varsity Head Coach.

I'm not sure I would characterize either of these as a "Coach Chalk disciple". Although I never saw either have what I would call a "stand your ground" moment in public with any of the shortcomings of Coach Chalk, I would hope there were some conversations that went on behind the scenes. A knowledgeable interviewer should explore in detail. Of the two, Coach Johnson would have the more experience. His drawback would be that he does live in Lexington with his wife and young child. Would they consider a move to Frankfort? Those evening practices/games are even tougher if you live too far to get home for a break after school. How far can a Varsity coach live from the school community before it hinders their ability/commitment to build a quality program? It's not the kind of job where you can work remotely.....building relationships to students/school/community does matter.

I know this will be tough on the players to wait for decision on a coach, but with a new principal and superintendent coming on board I can understand why this may take longer than normal. Best in the long run to get a coach/teacher that the new school administration is comfortable with.

If Coach Thacker is interested (big IF??), he would be a strong candidate because he has built a strong, competitive women's program by working hard and doing it right. Has built a strong connection to the middle school program, cultivates good support from the booster club/community, has good discipline, gets top effort from his players.....and of course the bottom line....his teams have been winning!! He has also been very successful in helping several of his players get scholarships to some of the smaller colleges in KY. Several players that would not have been able to do it on their own, or even attend college without that financial help. Many of his players have come back to the area and helped out as assistant coaches, so he obviously enjoys a great amount of respect from his players. He also is an assistant football coach (don't know how he has time for family??), so his contact with the male athletes has been strong. I could go on, but the bottom line is he would be a strong candidate if he is interested.

Look for the current Franklin County girls coach to be the front runner if he is interested.

Seems like this all depends on Lexington Dunbar. If they make him an offer, than Franklin County will probably be looking for a new coach. Franklin County has a new principal and superintendent coming on board next year......would be a great opportunity for someone if the job does become available.

Should have quite a few teams moving around in this poll after the Louisville Invitational Tournament. Male went 1-2 and was very close to losing all 3 games. Bowling Green went 1-2, Central Hardin went 0-2 and got shut out both games.

Why does Scott Chalk's name keep getting thrown around in the threads on vacant coaching slots? Is he that unhappy at Franklin County?

If Happy Osbourne does end up taking the job, could his "availability" have had anything to do with Tony Wise being dismissed?? ........just asking!!

I see where a Todd Wilson who is listed as principal of Montgomery County High School has been named one of 2 finalists for the principal position at Franklin County High School. Will this make it five of five principals in Montgomery County replaced??

This post makes a lot sense. Hard to justify classification in some sports, but not others.

If that is the source of the problem, would seem to be a simple solution. Either grab the feed prior to it going through the replay equipment, or show fewer replays. It is a poor show the way it is done now.

I don't know the "rest of the story", but calling any kid a quitter is pretty strong language. I did not see any quitters on this team. Don't forget that this team was District 41 champs and beat Woodford Co in the District Finals by 10 points.....pretty good effort that night. Team turmoil can come from many sources and respect needs to be both given and received.

Woodford Co brought a tremendous crowd (students included) to the Madison Central vs Woodford Co game. Seemed almost as many fans as Mad. Central. Great atmosphere. A little inside info for BGP fans..........At the EKU arena, students from the schools generally fill the end zone seats. There is only one end zone with seating and it's first-come first-served. At the Lex Catholic vs Woodford Co game, the Lex Catholic students so dominated the Woodford Co students in sheer number (and noise) that Woodford Co abandoned their end zone seats. The Woodford Co students wandered the arena before ending up in the corner farthest from the end zone, but located where their team entered/exited the arena from the floor. This proved to be a great choice as it provided the point of celebration (with excellent pictures taken) when they upset Lex Catholic. They were back filling that same section against Madison Central and celebrated with their winning team. Wonder where the Woodford Co students will be in the game versus Scott County? I bet I know!!!!!

Who is coach for the KY All Stars this year? Anybody know how this selection is made?
