Scott County wins easily to advance to finals against Woodford County Tuesday night.

Wow. That makes a statement.

No. 3 Scott County had no trouble in its 11th Region semifinal as it flattened Franklin County 73-39 Saturday afternoon in EKU’s McBrayer Arena.

The Cardinals led 39-23 at halftime, then buried Franklin County by scoring the first 19 points of the second half. That put Scott County up 58-23, and Coach Billy Hicks put his starters on the bench for the last 10 minutes of the game.

Tamron Manning led the winners with 20 points in just 19 minutes of action. Isaiah Ivey had 10 points and 7 rebounds. Scott County was 7-for-13 from three-point range.

Franklin County shot 29%, including 5-for-20 on three-pointers. Garrett Hamilton had 11 points and 8 rebounds for the Flyers.

Scott County (30-4) will play Woodford County (22-12) in Tuesday night’s finals. Woodford County Coach Scott Hundley played for Scott County and was Mr. Basketball in his senior year playing for Billy Hicks.

So did Franklin County......so much for trying to finish strong and close the gap.

The radio announcers made it sound like the Franklin Co starters had bad body language, fouled out on purpose, and didn't give a Franklin Co effort. I didn't stay for the game. Anyone who did share that sentiment?

The Franklin County players basically quit after Scott County came out after the half and scored the first 18 points of the second half.

I think you are on the mark with your comment Triple Threat. The team effort in this game was a far cry from the effort in the district finals win over Woodford County.

 

Scott County is a very good team, although probably not as much talent as I've seen in past years. The SC players obviously respect the SC coaches and go about their business giving the effort that Billy Hicks expects.

 

Franklin County on the other hand had kids talking back to the coaches, pouting when taken out of the game, and making excuses. Honestly, it would have taken a near miracle for Franklin County to upset SC, but I do believe they could have made a better showing if the entire team would have had a better attitude, given 100% effort, and shown more respect for their coaches. I feel bad for the kids that did things the right way this season. The quitters left the their teamates hanging out to dry. They have alot to learn about life!!!!!

I don't know the "rest of the story", but calling any kid a quitter is pretty strong language. I did not see any quitters on this team. Don't forget that this team was District 41 champs and beat Woodford Co in the District Finals by 10 points.....pretty good effort that night. Team turmoil can come from many sources and respect needs to be both given and received.

Great point!! I find it funny that Woodford has almost the exact same margain of defeat to Scott County as FC did but I dont see anyone calling Woodford County quitters. Quit drinking the kool aid folks. Facts are Scott County was the better team by 30 points both nights. Also, if a team can play like quitters and lose by 30 and a team can play inspired and hard and also lose by 30 then whats that really say? Im by no means talking bad about Woodford, they have a nice team, played great against Madison Central and made a nice run to get to the finals. I just think FC was better then Woodford this season and they proved it twice once at Woodford and again in the District finals. So was it really a "fluke" FC won the district?
