Thanks for posting. These players and coaches will be honored between a game at the Sweet 16.

Who do you think should have gotten it?

Who do you think should have gotten it?

Damon Kelly from West Jessamine for coach.

Does the player have to be a senior?

Did they announce the girls?

Does the player have to be a senior?

I think that the answer is yes, but don't quote me.

Who do you think should have gotten it?

Seniors who I would have thought of before Cody Collins.

Cameron Thomas-East Jessamine

Michael Rexroat-East Jessamine

Tashaun Hairston-East Jessamine

Tryston Ford-Danville(probably my first choice)

Trent Edgington-Lincoln County

Cody Epperson-Southwestern

Micah Satterly-Boyle County

Kyle Rice-Boyle County

Michael Arnett-Boyle County

That is just off the top of my head. Most of the best players in the 12th are underclassmen so that may play a part in why Cody Collins won. I just wish I knew he was so when I watched East Jessamine(as recently as last week) I would have known who he is.

Congrats to him nonetheless.

Damon Kelly from West Jessamine for coach.

keep in mind that Irvine is retiring this year and his team had a decent season. Maybe a bit of a sentimental pick. (One I agree with, btw)

I figured that it was a sentimental pick. Kind of belittles the award if we are just going to give it to retiring coaches who have decent seasons against a very watered down schedule. They were 0-2 against West Jessamine. I just think considering the schedule and how well they played with a brand new team that what Damon Kelly did at West Jessamine was the most impressive job done in the regular season.

Yes for this award. They will also get a invite to try out for the Ky All Star Team. Why this award has to be a senior.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the POY receives their award at halftime of the 1st state tournament game. They will also participate in the East-West All Star game against the top 2 senior players from each region across the state. This honor also gets them an automatic tryout on the Kentucky All Stars.

In that case...Tryston Ford would be my pick for the 12th Region.

Player has to be a senior. Also coach of the year and coach of player voted player of the year have to be members of the KABC. This is why its called the "KABC Coach and Player of the Year."

Congrats to Dontel Rice of Holmes for being named 9th Region POY and Division II POY in NKY.

Kid can play with the best of them and is IMO one of the most underrated seniors in the state.

All the kid does is go out and produce 20 and 10 on a regular basis.
