Marion County (12-2) will get a shot at Manual when it hosts the Crimsons on Jan. 14. 2. Congrats tp Sydni. That's pretty amazing to have 2500 and we are not at the midpoint of the season. I saw the game when she hurt her shoulder and had to come out which put Marshall County back in the game. I had to leave at half-time but told my husband that if Moss can play, they should put her back in because Moss with one good arm is better than most healthy players, lol. I was right!
  3. I agree. Saw her play a lot this summer. I liked the fact that she never got angry even when she had every right to be angry. She was constantly fouled. She just plays the game, doesn't flop, just plays strong. You gotta respect that type of player even if you are playing against her.

Collins (8-2) -- Cardwell 28, Wells 18, Rankin 2, Mouser 4, Buckmaster 2 Lady Dragons win our Hoopfest Tournamant!! Very physical game. Jasmine Whitfield is tournamant MVP. Mary Dye and Emily Housley also named to the all tournament team. Kayla Mullins came off the bench and really opened up a tight game. Congrats girls, this was truly a team effort!! Cardwell and Wells from Collins also made the all tournament team. I will say this, Cardwell from Collins is probably the best 3pt shooter I have seen so far this year.
  5. 12/17/2011 South Oldham 72 Simon Kenton 54 South Oldham 19 14 23 16 72 Simon Kenton 19 18 10 7 54 South Oldham (5-1) -- Dye 15, Greenwood 3, Gamsky 6, Wright 2, Housley 14, Whitfield 27, Sedoris 4, Beaudrie 1. Simon Kenton (3-2) -- Schmiade 2, Owings 20, Stevenson 14, Cook 10, Cox 4, Tomlin 4. Nice win for the lady dragons! We were actually down 4 points at the half, but the girls came out in the 2nd half playing better much better defense and rebounding. I think the two guards from Simon surprised them. Was impressed with their guards #11 and #23(not sure of their names), although not very tall they shoot very well.
  6. Seems like it was a very good game. Congrats to Boone!
  7. Walton-Verona should be ranked. Ballard too high(maybe #15), Anderson too high with two losses(maybe 12 or 13), IMO
  8. Anderson Co. 60 Anderson Co. 24 6 11 19 60 Paul Dunbar 15 29 13 17 74 Anderson Co. (4-2) -- Cann 20, McKee 17, Brown 8, Robinson 5, Whiteside 4, Stewart 4, Averitt 2. Paul Dunbar (4-1) -- McEldowney 18, Parks 18, Muhammad 11, Fender 9, Jackson 6, Edwards 10, Todd 2.

South Oldham (3-1) -- Dye 11, Gamsky 2, Wright 6, Housley 5, Whitfield 23, Sedoris 4, Beaudrie 6. Good win for the dragons against a very good Highlands team!
  10. Wow, So many girls hurt this year. She is such a good player, I really hate to hear that about any player especially seniors. Hopefully Bryant's injury is not as serious.
  11. Have I missed something? I saw the box scores for a couple of games and have not seen Hannah Devine From Carroll County and Nicole Bryant from North Oldham. Are they hurt??
  12. Heard that Melton for Oldham was hurt in the warm up and taken to the hospital. Hope she is OK. Is she their leading scorer?
  13. Good win for Owen. I think the situation in the 8th will be the same as last year. Few points will determine the wins between the top teams, Walton, Anderson, South and Owen.
  14. Not sure we were watching the same game, Whitfield did play the point. She played as always about 75% of the time, she is the point. The problem is that she did not play most of the game because she got two quick fouls in the first couple of minutes in the game. Did not play again until the 3rd and got in foul trouble again. I wouldn't say the defender on her did such a great job because she was the high scorer in very limited play--she will have to stop being so aggressive on defense in the first half of games. I do think that WV should definately be ranked higher. I think they have the best post players in the region. WV guards know how to get them the ball and they know how to finish at the rim.
  15. Walton Verona 77 Paul Dubar 74 (2OT) Paul Dunbar 8 16 18 14 18 74 Walton Verona 8 15 16 17 21 77 Paul Dunbar (0-1) -- Fender 6, Muhamad 22, Jackson 10, Edwards 3, Cod 4, Raglin 8, Parks 21. Walton Verona (1-0) -- Clinkenbeard 12, Sladey 2, Ginn 4, Sandlin 20, Taulbe 15, Judy 20, Hoffa 4.
  16. Hope it is not a serious injury. Will keep her in my prayers.
  17. Congrats to the Gayheart family! She will do very well at NKU.

  20. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Rest in peace.
  21. I agree totally. This is exactly what I told my daughter. Told her I was very disappointed, she is suppose to be a leader and lead by example, always playing hard. I have many coversations about being mentally tough, playing hard whether you are playing the "best" team in the state or the "worst" team in the state. But as you probably know, getting a 17 year old to really listen to a parent doesn't always happen. Might be nice if a coach made them run a little extra in practice to reiterate this point.(lol) WVFrank, of course I know who you are. Was actually going to talk to you during the JV game but somehow missed you leaving. We think your granddaughter is great. She has such great hands, and amazing jumping ability. My daughter rarely talks to me about other high school players but she often calls Sydney "a beast" and "amazing"(highest of compliments from a bball player). Boone will have a great season, the transfer from Virginia is going to help a lot.
  22. Regarding the South-Boone scrimmage, when I asked my Daughter why South did not play with much intensity in the 5th quarter, she said "The scrimmage was over, Boone just wanted to play another quarter. the fifth quarter didn't count" But I do think it is hard to look at scrimmages and know who would win in a real game. South played a very physical game and if individual fouls were counted it might have been a different game. That being said, I really liked South's defense. Dye had a great game, very strong in the post. After 4 quarters, Dye had 18pts and Whitfield 16pts. But Whitfield had more turnovers than usual but I think this is normal for her coming off summer AAU playing the 2/3 she always has to adjust back to playing the 1 position. I also liked the sophomore Sedoris for South, I think she will give South a very good inside presence. For Boone, Moss was great. She is just unbelievably athletic, I also liked #13 and #34. They will be a very good team.
