  1. I agree. I thought they didn't have anyone from the eighth but then I saw the player from Grant(I do't think I have seen her play). I thought, surely she is not better than Sandlin from Walton. IMO, big mistake not inviting Sandlin.

  3. Actually, I don't think it was because of basketball but more so for his teaching career. It is known by most peple in oldham county that the teachers are paid a lot less but expected to do a lot more than say Jefferson County teachers. I can't fault anyone for making a career move like that. He is a great coach and a better person and I really wish him well. South will actually have a lot of talent coming back, it is unfortunate that they were not able to play as much because of the talent of the outgoing seniors. I told the AD this weekend that if my daughter was still playing, my recommendation would be the JV Coach, Higdon. She did a great job with the JV team and she played college ball at WKU. I don't know if she is interested but I think she would be a great replacement.
  4. I am very suprised that we have no one over 6 feet because Indiana is so tall. Obviously the Manual coach knows how to win games so I won't second guess the team. I probably would have bet my house that Mykal Farris and Kristen Jacobs would make the team because they looked great at tryouts but that's probably why I am just a fan and not a coach, lol.
  5. Congrats to Sydney!! She is the best girls basketball player in Kentucky!!
  6. I saw this today on Jody Demling's Blog. Happy to see that she has bounced back from her injury! Becca Greenwell named MVP of event Posted on April 23, 2012 by Jody Demling Owensboro Catholic junior Becca Greenwell made a successful return to the AAU circuit this past weekend. The 6-foot-1 Greenwell, who suffered a knee injury last summer and sat out all season, was named MVP of the Boo Williams Nike Invitational in Hampton, Va., helping lead her Tennessee Flight travel team for the title. Greenwell is ranked as the No. 5 prospect on the nation by ESPN.com. I’ll try and update this story later today. Becca Greenwell named MVP of event | Jody Demling – Recruiting
  7. WV Frank, It was good seeing you Saturday. I tried to pick 12 girls, also. Here is my try: 1. Sydney Moss 2. April Wilson 3. Jasmine Whitfield 4. Kendall Noble 5. Bre Elder 6. Kara Wright 7.LeAsia Wright 8.Caylan Bybee 9.Mykal Farris 10.Kristen Jacob 11. Christine Roush or Mackenzie Martinez 12. Micah Jones or Rianna Gayheart. I know Stacy Pendelton would probably get some flack for having 3 girls from Manual, but Wilson, L. Wright and K. Wright are really good and should be there. There was a lot of talent at the tryouts and I am sure it will be hard to pick a team. The class of 2012 has an abundance of good guards and very few post players. I also thought that most of the girls were a little out of shape, there was puking and lots of missed layups. My daughter said she had no legs by the end of the day. It was really fun seeing the best players from around the state.
  8. Congrats!! What an amazing senior year!
  9. Rankings: Kentucky girls Class of 2012 Posted on April 11, 2012 by Jody Demling The season is complete and many of the state’s top Class of 2012 girls’ have already signed with a college. It’s a solid – not great – class for the state of Kentucky with several players who could make a major impact next season at the Division I level. What this class lacks is super depth. But it still wasn’t easy to rank the class. Here’s my last stab at ranking the seniors in the state of Kentucky for this past season. Here’s the top 25: • 1. Sydney Moss, Boone County, 5-11: The Florida signee is the daughter of NFL wide receiver Randy Moss and should get Miss Basketball honors. • 2. April Wilson, Manual, 5-8: The Purdue signee led Manual to the state title as a senior. The Lady Crimsons would have won two in a row had she not been injured. • 3. Jasmine Whitfield, South Oldham, 5-10 – The Cincinnati signee proved she was a lot better than most folks expected. • 4. Jenna Crittendon, Ryle, 5-10: The Xavier commitment is state’s most versatile player. • 5. Kara Wright, Manual, 5-10 – The SE Missouri State signee was so good in the postseason. Helped the Lady Crimsons to the title. • 6. Kendall Noble, Perry County Central, 5-10: Unsigned player had a solid season, including several triple-doubles. She could be a sleeper for some college. • 7. Bre Elder, Marion County, 5-9: The Dayton signee was such a key piece of Marion County team that won three consecutive Fifth Region titles. • 8. Micah Jones, Green County, 5-8 – New WKU coach Michelle Clark-Heard will like what she’s getting in Jones. • 9. LeAsia Wright, Manual, 5-7 – Another unsigned senior, she’s the real deal. Someone will land a steal this late in the game. • 10. Megan Pittman, Casey County, 5-11 – Coastal Carolina signee has had knee troubles but is a solid player. • 11. Rianna Gayheart, Owen County, 5-7 (Northern Kentucky) • 12. Christy Soldo, Hopkinsville, 6-0 (Murray State) • 13. Ashli Mayes, Franklin County, 5-10 (Samford) • 14. Caylon Bybee, 6-1, Monroe County • 15. Haley Armstrong, Murray, 5-8 • 16. Peyton Hisel, Tates Creek, 6-1 (Jacksonville State) • 17. Lindsey Burd, Hart County, 5-11 (Campbellsville) • 16. Christine Roush, Mercy, 5-10 (Northern Kentucky) • 17. Sarah Martin, Daviess County, 6-1 • 18. Kristin Jacob, Lexington Christian, 6-1 • 19. Haley Perkins, Glasgow, 5-9 • 20. Jamie Cummings, Barren County, 5-11 • 21. Sydney Brown, Anderson County, 6-1 (Jacksonville State) • 22. Kelsea Wilson, Grayson County, 5-11 (Brescia) • 23. Christine Roush, Mercy, 5-11 (Northern Kentucky) • 24. Taylor Stricklen, Bracken County, 6-1 • 25. Lauren Bodine, Manual, 5-9 (Maine) Rankings: Kentucky girls Class of 2012 | Jody Demling – Recruiting

  11. Congrats to the Kentucky squad!! Very exciting game. The girls seemed to have a lot of fun and played hard. Lots of good players on the team. Congrats to Jasmine Whitfield the Kentucky MVP. The Ohio MVP was Catie Craft, sister of Aaron Craft/Ohio State, she will also be playing for Ohio State. He was at the game supporting his sister. This was a well run all-star game!
  12. Not sure, but she may have chosen not to play. Once you sign, you can only play in two all star games before you graduate. I know you have to be invited to play in this all star game but I can't imagine anyone not trying to get Moss.

  16. By the way, here is a link of the girls and coaches receiving their awards and a nice group picture from the KHSAA website Kentucky High School Athletic Association | Game 9 P.L. Dunbar - Butler
  17. The KABC list was posted here weeks ago. The awards were given to the girls and coaches in Bowling Green last week and the basketball game has already been played. OK, I will say congrats to all again!
  18. WVFrank, you are so good at finding info. I really appreciate your efforts!! By the way "Gay" is Kayla Day, she played for the East team and Ashley Mays although on crutches, dressed for the East team and sat on the bench.
  19. Congrats to Caylan Bybee(Monroe County) West team and Jasmine Whitfield(South Oldham) East Team on receiving MVP awards at the KABC East-West Game on Saturday. The West Team won, I can't remember the score. The girls seemed to have a lot of fun. It was good seeing players from other regions. Just some thoughts, It was nice to see Whitfield and Rianna Gayheart on the same team, Gayheart did a nice job at the point. Bybee was a beast in the post. I was also impressed with Mikal Farris from Ashland, she was very fast and an aggressive player. Molly Lamb (Greenwood) and Julie Whitfill(Breckinridge County) were very good shooters. I also liked Christine Rousch's game(Mercy). Anyway, it was a fun game.
