  2. Meant to post this last week. Congrats to Cann and her family! I heard the coaches were very excited to get her commitment! Go bearcats!!!
  3. Totally agree. I thought Banks from Ballard would have given them needed size in the post. If Greenwell was healthy they probably could have swept both games with the small line-up, but since she could not play, i think size in the post would have helped. Congrats to the team for winning the 1st game, great job!
  4. Game 2: Indiana 77 - Kentucky 57 KY (57) - Owings 2, Brown 18, McKee 3, Cann 7, Lawrence 2, Matchen 4, Rankin 13, Ruffin, Calhoun 4 It does not total to 57 but it's listed in the newspaper this way. Maybe the 4 points belong to Ruffin.

  7. Indiana wins the game tonight. Hopefully the Kentucky juniors can win the game on saturday!! Good luck!
  8. I think it's strange how the two newspapers list are so different. For instance Shumpert is a courier journal first team selection but only a honorable mention in the lexington herald. I guess some coaches only respond to their favorite newspaper. FIRST TEAM (Listed in order based on coaches' voting; x-assists per game) Player, school (first-place votes) Ht. 10. Saw on the news tonight that Coach Evans was leaving Mercy. I did not hear the beginning of the announcement, is he quitting or retiring?
  11. 12. The junior team selections: Ivy Brown (LaRue County), Alexus Calhoun (Marion County), Makenzie Cann (Anderson County), Jamie Castle (Magoffin County), Sarah Cooley (Lafayette), Sarah Futscher (Bishop Brossart), Nicole Kiernan (Newport Central Catholic), Danielle Lawrence (Butler), Drea Matchen (Ballard), Eriel McKee (Anderson County), Abby Owings (Simon Kenton), Rachel Potter (Pikeville), Kayla Rankin (Perry County Central), DaiJia Ruffin (Sacred Heart), Shalika Smith (Glasgow), Brooke Todd (Paul Dunbar), Taylor Wheeler (Boyd County), Nannilena White (Franklin County).
  13. Looks good. I probably would have picked Styles from Manual or Banks from Ballard, but you can probably make an argument for any player on the list. And I do agree with Epps being the best player.
  14. People play on AAU teams for different reasons. Exposure, skill improvement, etc. some people are just trying to get better for their high school team and don't want to play at the next level. But like them are not, if I am a sophomore or junior and i am invited to play for Kentucky Premier, I would play for them if I want to play at the next level. Simply put, college coaches like the organization and show up to watch them at exposure events. My daughter played for many AAU teams, several that I liked better than Premier, but no team brought college coaches like the Premier. And her college coach still talks about going to scout the Premier teams, so you have to give them credit for accomplishing that kind of excitement for Kentucky players.
  15. Well, it will be a good position for whoever takes the job. Manual draws a lot of the top girls, athletic and academic, in Louisville.
  16. Two in a row for Milby? So... If you are saying Milby is going to Manual. Then I believe it because you always have the inside scoop.
  17. Seems like this is said every year. Ok, KABC players of the year are SENIORS only. Anderson County 2 stars are juniors. But you might have an argument about the coach of the year.
  18. A lot of these girls play AAU tournaments. This is no different. They are young and can handle it.
  19. The complete list of honorees, with players listed first and coaches second: First Region – Chelsey Shumpert (Paducah Tilghman); Roderick Thomas (Paducah Tilghman); Second – Ellie Fruit (Henderson County); Parker McCalister (Webster County); Third – Becca Greenwell (Owensboro Catholic); Mike Harper (Muhlenberg County); Fourth – Madison Clements (Monroe County); Brad Bonds (Allen County-Scottsville); Fifth – Makayla Epps (Marion County); Trent Milby (Marion County); Sixth – Whitney Hartlage (Mercy); Larry Just (Butler); Seventh – Tearra Banks (Ballard); Josh Leslie (Eastern); Eighth – Courtney Sandlin (Walton-Verona); Holly Roberts (Gallatin County); Ninth – Leah Schaefer (Highlands); Aaron Stamm (Conner) and Jaime Walz-Richey (Highlands); 10th – Macie Spence (Montgomery County); Piper Lindsey (Mason County); 11th – Larryn Brooks (Madison Central); Robert Cooksey (Madison Central); 12th – Jessica Hardin (Wayne County); Chrysti Noble (Rockcastle County); 13th – Cheyenne Madden (Clay County); Richard Jones (Lynn Camp); 14th – Kelah Eldridge (Letcher County Central); Mark Collett (Leslie County); 15th – Brianna Fraley (Shelby Valley); Rodney Rowe (Shelby Valley); 16th – Kaylyn Gambill (Ashland Blazer); Hagar Easterling (East Carter) and Troy Lee Thomas (Bath County).
  20. Much closer game than I thought. Congrats to Anderson! Represent the 8th!!
  21. I don't see how you can be Mr basketball and not even get POY of your region.
  22. I felt like Bill Murry in Grounghog Day, the move. Wish refs would stay in their own region. At least you would know what to expect. But still cheering for whichever team wins the 8th to make a strong showing at Diddle!!
