As of now, I believe there are only 3 starters out. Burchell will be back early in the season. Hatter had his appendix out and is expected to be cleared as early as this week. Better to get this out of the way now and (knock on wood) have a healthy season.

As a mom of a Senior and Freshman, football players, I could not agree more. This is a great class with great talent and I am excited to watch them this year and beyond. But there is so much that can happen. Some kids that are studs as Freshman can be injured or quit football to focus on another sport. On the other hand, stars can develop. Ethan Egbers set receiving records at CCH and, if I remember correctly, didn't score his first Varsity TD until his Senior year (and what a year he had). Coach Wirth has these boys on a great path. It's going to be a fun ride!

Luke is going to be ridiculously good. He is a respectful young man who works hard and comes from a great family. Too bad a thread giving him a nod for all his hard work had to go south. He deserves better. Maybe he will make G1 eat those words.

CCH not scheduled to play Cooper this season.

Congratulations Jake! So happy to see that he can continue his football career and that his season-ending injury wasn't career-ending. It's well deserved for a great player and kid! The Colonels will miss you next year!

It's hard to argue many of the points made by Highlands fans until we see, on Saturday, if our Colonels will be able to do what we know they are capable of, upsetting the Birds. Excited about what's happening at CCH, but foolish to brag until you've earned it! Go Colonels!!

I believe CCH wins this one. They are deeper and will wear down Beechwood in the end. With no one going both ways, Cov Cath's bound to have "fresher legs" in the second half (look at the Dixie and Boone games for examples).

Happy to see Burchell have such a big game. He is a great athlete but is humble and well-mannered off the field. Something a few "hotshots" could stand to learn, you can be a good kid and a "stud" at the same time.

You could say the same about Dressman's interception on the 1 or 2 yd line. He doesn't throw that into double coverage and CCH wins by 2 scores.

The championship game for frosh has been listed on our schedule as Thursday night since the beginning of the season. Saturday would be better. 3 games (hopefully) in one week would be a lot for any team.

I believe there was some kind of agreement that Lloyd, having a very small team, would only play our 2's and 3's. I think that game was added on and perhaps they did not have to come at all. I am not sure but it did make for a long period of time without the first string hitting the field (19 days). I can't imagine what they Lloyd score would have been if our one's did play.

That is not how I read TOG's post. Nevertheless, I was there. As a parent of a "one", I pay particular attention to who is in when. C-Boy has it right. The first string does need the work for what some have called the biggest game of their season. They did not see the field at all against Lloyd and only have four days after Ryle until HHS. These guys need some "live" action. It had been 19 days since they played Dixie for a couple of quarters. That is a long time to sit the starters. Not something done by a team who runs up scores on people.

The one's did play the first series of the 2nd half. After that, Dressman was certainly not playing quarterback or doing PATs (that was Way and Kathman). He was only in for kickoff when the score was 55-7. I would assume it was to get some more practice in with only 4 days til a big game and after he had been taking it easy due to an injury.

Good thing CovCath has the Big Guy on our side. After reading all of these Highlands posts, it looks that is the only way we can win this one. (sarcasm folks)

Aside from the two backs coming in when Lloyd scored, the first team did not see the field at all versus LLoyd. I do not know anything about HHS frosh. My son has played with these CCH boys in since 7th grade. I think the play calling has been conservative once the touchdowns begin. Dressman, Bir and Pope could keep them coming almost at will against every team they have played thus far and the passing game is quite good as well. That is not indicative of what will happen next Weds, it is just a statement that speaks to the scoring this season. The first string sits quite a bit. Cannot imagine what the scores would be with aggressive play calling and more first team action.

I believe Bir and Pope only came in for a handful of plays (when Lloyd would score). Other than those exceptions, the first team was out the whole game and 2nd and 3rd strings did an admirable job. I would think a lot of these players would be starters on most other teams. The freshman Colonel team is deep at many positions. Looking forward to the rest of the season.
