Another Lexington School Is A Baseball Champ
UNDERTHEBRIDGE replied to BareRock's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Hopefully BareRock you're not forgetting that the 11th region in general the past few years has also been considered one of if not THE best regions in baseball and hardest to get out of. While playing in Lexington might be an advantage, I'd say most of the Lexington success comes more from so much talent in the city. I'd claim Baseball is easily the best high school sport in Lexinton all around. -
Fourth straight year a Lexington team has been in the final, not too shabby.

Locker Rooms

The basketball lockerrooms are pretty nice. That whole facility is a real peice of work. Now if they can get our football/baseball/soccer lockerrooms looking better. -
LexCath Coach????
UNDERTHEBRIDGE replied to Tough as Nails's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
St. Henry guy is the new coach or at least that is what the Catholic parents said at the KBA today. Lex Cath won the tourny there by the way beating Dunbar in the championship by 11. Dunbar beat Scott Co. in the semis by about 6 or so points. Lex Cath beat Sacred Heart in the other game by 15 or so points. Lex Cath was w/o either of their two centers for this tournament. Still some of the new girls in the rotation looked good. The Lady Knights are ready for another big run. -
I know I get the added bonus of tonights outcome with Lex Cath winning the region, but how did you have them third in this region? They were pretty impressive all season against the teams from this region. They also had taken two of three from Dunbar (though by one run each) including the most recent matchup in the district.

While its true they could get hot, the 1st and 2nd place teams of the 43 district will most likely be favorites coming into the region. You also have Woodford Co. and Henry Clay who are pretty tough teams as well. It will be difficult for Model to make it all the way through the region, even if they get to the regionals.
-
Looking at just records and who they have beaten I'd agree a higher ranking is probably deserved for Male. At least 2nd if not first. Would most people be willing to say right now that PRP and Male would be favorites when the districts and regionals start?
-
Frankly, looking at the top 5-10 teams, I feel they are all pretty even with no one really standing out too much. Its gonna be pretty crazy sorting out the teams who are gonna come out of the Lexington and Louisville regions.
-
Any opinions on the top teams? Trinity, Eastern, PRP, Lex Cath, Paul Dunbar, Beechwood are all pretty solid right now. St. X is there as well. LCA might be a little down but definately aren't out. Owensboro Catholic? All these teams have had big wins, and they have also had some losses to each other as well. Could make for some wild regional matchups.

Best RB in the state for 2006
UNDERTHEBRIDGE replied to MountainThunder's topic in KY Football (High School)
This is typically normal, I know a bunch of Lex Cath players who in the offseason train w/ a personal trainer on speed and strength. Usually the guy cuts them a group deal for two or three players coming in together and the parents usually pay for this. Its been a big help to guys trying to help increase their chances of playing college ball. Also Lex Cath's Isreal is the real deal. Only gonna be a junior next year but this kid has wheels, power, and moves. Just needs some height perhaps. -
Hey, I understand where you're coming from. Part of the reason Lex Cath moved to the turf was because their old field was in such a soddy condition come playoffs w/ so many sports playing on it. I haven't played on Rock's field in quite some time and it was never muddy when I did but I remember it always being pretty torrn up. Plus, as you said, weather happens. My senior year every away game we had was played in mud from the rains.
-
I'd say it definately was taken before those games were played. Anyone know who the Knights have lost to this year? They are 14-4-1. They do have wins over Dunbar, LCA, and a slew of apparently good Tennessee teams to boost their ranking. I'd be interested to hear about the two games they dropped this weekend.

Players in lexington for this upcoming season
UNDERTHEBRIDGE replied to tha champ's topic in KY Football (High School)
Obviousy from Lexington Catholic Shane Israel, RB, Wes Caldwell, WR, Winston Guy, S?, Ben Revere, and Jacob Locknane, LB are the big players to watch out for. Israel may have biggest impact on the team running the offense till a QB arises. -
Weakest region and Strongest regions

I'd say Novosel of Lex Cath probably could be on this list as well and was only a soph this past season. -
LexCath plays a girl with a fully torn ACL
UNDERTHEBRIDGE replied to snappy's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Im not after you TD, lower the guns, you didn't start this thread. And im being honest when I say many doctors do allow kids to play after an ACL tear if they deem the risk of worse injury to be small and the right precautions are taken. Is it right or wrong? I don't know, im sure some people have hurt themselves before but I haven't seen numbers on it. If I remember, I'll ask my advisor, he is an athletic trainer and sports physical therapist who deals w/ situations like this. (By the way, im just stating reasons why the girl could play, i'd have to know the case, severity of the injury, etc etc to even give an opinion on right or wrong. As i said before my little sis the second time she tore her ACL, was allowed to finish her soccer season out before having surgery and it did make me a little uncomfortable.) -

Haha, I don't know if quoting me is always great, Im basically about to be a senior PT student at Saint Louis University and my biggest knowledge comes from kinesiology class and Gross Anatomy where I was able to get an up close and personal view of the actual knee. That added with a little sister who had three acl surgeries, two on the left one on the right, and knowing some friends with the surgery I have a decent knowledge. I do agree that this thread had the image of being just another reason to whine about Lex Cath. -
Ehhh, this is early in the year. Wait till later in the season and if they can win this matchup it will be a huge win. These two teams usually play pretty close whenever they meet up.
-
Note, Lex Cath has a great wide reciever as well, his effectiveness though may rest on how good the QB is.

LexCath plays a girl with a fully torn ACL
UNDERTHEBRIDGE replied to snappy's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
It is possible to play w/ a torn ACL, however, if the meniscus, MCL, PCL, or anything else is blown, its not very advisable. Typically it depends on the severity of the ACL tear along w/ everything else in the knee. The ACL is crucial for some quick movements but isn't always needed for sports. I take it the doctor's advised her to wear a protective brace, and also her minutes were probably cut a bit. My little sister played with an ACL tear in 8th grade for soccer. The doctor's and PT's supported it actually. The greatest risk exists more in possibility of tearing something else so the athlete is usually advised to notify the coach early if they feel discomfort. The leg shouldn't fall off by the way just cause the ACL is gone. Many more ligaments exist within that area. The MCL and PCL are quit crucial. You also have the patellar ligament/quad ligament going over the patella and inserting onto your tibia. Plus there exists many upper thigh muscles which insert onto the tibia and fibula. The typical brace worn for this is also very protective and you will find many linemen in football have one on each knee. Im not fully accurate on all this perhaps, but I have studied the knee complex a bit the past two years as well as known a few kids w/ ACL tears and im pretty close. Todd was doing a pretty normal thing here. If the doctor says its okay, he can oblige and play her. -
Lexington Catholic 69 Rose Hill 52

Depends, will schools in Lexington that are Public mean that athletes coming from them to Catholic (w/o playing high school sports in middle school) cause a person loss of a year eligibility?
