  1. Still is a monster, I saw him friday at the LC-Rockcastle game man oh man how Danville beat Lex Cath in '98 is still a mystery to me.
  2. Jason Weathers was a big boy and had a good career at LC but didn't play any really at the 'ville. Bailey who was on the same line had the better college career. Not sure if Weathers went anywhere after Louisville.
  3. Derrick Johnson as well as a DE. Lex Catholic did have Kevin Bailey play for them who went on to start at Virginia on the o-line there.
  4. How bout Eric Shelton at RB by the way, he was a pretty good one currently in the NFL, or Artose Pinner. Alexander may be tops but these two guys are probably as good as Homer.
  5. Not as good as he is now but he definately had the talent. A lot of players starring for the Knights now were only mediocre their freshmen year and have really improved up to now as seniors. I'd have never thought this whole group would be playing for a State title back their freshman year.
  6. I was kidding around somewhat Knightsdad, it just happened before Burke's sophmore year I happened to tag him on here as a player to watch for in years to come.
  7. Just told I don't work saturday now, guess i'll make the four hour drive to see Lex Cath after all.
  8. This may be the best QB the Knights have ever had and also maybe the deepest recieveing core but overall I'd say NewTyboy3 is right. Size wise and speed wise the Knights have had some pretty impressive teams that just couldn't do it when the third round came. The '98 team that lost to Danville by 2 or 3 and the 2001 team that got dominated by Cov Cath after rolling through the regular season undefeated both were pretty good teams.
  9. Trust me, anyone who saw Burke his freshman year should have known this kid had some talent. As for heir apparent, no clue, haven't got to see any freshman or JV games since I graduated so don't know the backups real well.
  10. Disagree with what about this title being tainted or not? If your disagreeing with pancho than you must feel someone currently on the team is involved in this or should be involved in this. From everything i've heard and a lot is heresay, that is not the case.
  11. Here is a question, how many rushing tds does Burke have this year? Yards rushing? I know he scored at least 5 or 6 tds rushing this year.
  12. I'm not sadly . Scheduled to work saturday so will miss the Knights first ever trip to the 'ville.
  13. I remember that one, LC dominated it really shutting down BG's power run. Course won't help us much this year.
  14. So this year it happens we have this occurrence. Anyone know how many Private schools have won 1A or 2A since the state championships were held in football? It would be one. 1984 I believe was the year. Anyone know how many 3A titles have been won by private schools? I'm pretty sure its 13 or 14 over the years. Guess what though, guess how many aren't T, X, and Flaget from when 3A was Jefferson County pretty much. 5, by Cov Cath, none coming since '97 I think. Only real Private dominance ever in football in history current or past seems to be in 4A where T and X have combined for 20 of 30 titles since 4A has existed. Maybe there is a dominance beginning to exist but I'd say this year is the first year where this type of thing has happened, it just happens on the coat tails of the whole Private/Public debate.
  15. Now Mrs PH, normally I agree w/ ya but I'd say if heart is the only determining factor in this one, get ready to move back the 2A and 1A games cause your gonna be in for LONG ONE since both teams have great heart. I keep expecting someone to stop Lexington Catholic's O but Highlands was the only team to come close and a banged up Burke helped that some. I think this should be a slugfest amongst two great teams. If this is a blowout either way I'd be shocked. Im hoping the Knights can finally do something I've been waiting for Lex Cath to do since I was in the 6th grade. Good Luck to both and hope its a great one.
  16. This game was great to watch, I saw the St. X game earlier this year and now this one and I have to say that the Knights definately have improved over the period of time. Burke didn't miss often on his passes and his worst throw he looked like he slipped or lost a handle on the ball because the throw was a definite wobbler coming out of his hands. What was impressive in the game was that some little known recievers had huge games. Alex Currie had two TD receptions and Patrick Schwendeman had a real nice TD reception late. Shane Israel also has the great combination of speed and ability to see the holes that makes him very dangerous. The D didn't suprise me tonight, they struggled against a power run early, made adjustments, made the stops late, and when the pass came they stopped it more often than not. They did get burned on one play but definately guarded the pass well most the night. The Rock team held strong early but just couldn't continue to run with the Knights for four quarters. Still a congrats should be given to them on a great season despite injuries. Good luck to them next year, sounds like they should have a good team coming back.
  17. Catholic may dress a lot of guys but only about 30-40 guys get a great amount of playtime. Can you at least congratulate the Knights on a great win? Rockcastle played hard last night and had success on O but defensively they were completely overmatched. Their line play on O was definately a plus for them and if they are young than next year will be a good year. Were all the fans tailgating outside the stadium smartmouths? Cause I was out in that group and I don't believe I said one word to the Rockcastle team or fans walking past us and I know a good amount of other people who did the same. By the way, I wouldn't really call your all's field a real GRASS field, from my days playing on it and word from past playoffs, its more MUD.
  18. I don't know why anyone would want to let Lex Cath run at will this year and try to completely take away the pass. Just because Israel might benefit some from a passing offense, this kid is the real deal and will probably be the guy whose back they will have to ride the next two years. He is a stud and could run all over a team if they don't take him seriously. As for Lexington Catholic, I don't see them approaching this game much different from the rest of the season. The Rock as I've always known them is a hard nosed running team with some passing mixed in here and there. The Knights may try a few more stunts to throw of QB timing and perhaps stuff some running holes but I don't see them getting too crazy on their game plan. If the Rock does plan on throwing they better capitalize early because the Knights adjust well. I pick the Knights to win this one, or well I did on the other thread. I don't know Burke's current health for the game but I hope he is doing well. I think the Knights have too many horses in this one but still I look for a close game at least early. Good luck to both teams however, I respect Rockcastle a lot having played them numerous times on the freshman and jv teams when I was round.
  19. Logan was first team. From what I heard the region loss was dominated early by Dunbar. By the way, look how many Lexington players are on here. A good chunk play club soccer together, talk about a scary team.
  20. The kid in issue was an athlete. Word is his family qualified for financial aid initially and attended Lex Cath. A hardship hit the family, sickness or whatever im not sure what, and the school offered a little extra in aid. This is the story I've heard. Its hard to go into great detail because a lot of rumors exist and also since this kid is a current high school athlete I want to respect his own privacy.
  21. If a radius was imposed w/ concessions being made for feeder schools to the Private school would this work? It would mean anyone outside say a radius of 20 miles roughly, not attending a defined feeder school would have to sit out one year from competition in sports(I'd say practicing w/ the team would be fine just no competition). This wouldn't effect academically minded people wanting to go to the school. Also, its only a year you must accept off and if your a freshman chances were you weren't going to see loads of PT anyways unless Mayo esque. The reason for defined feeder schools would be that schools like Lex Cath have a large area where no other Catholic school exists. Kids attending St. Leo in Versailles or Good Shepard in Frankfort shouldn't be punished for wanting to attend the school. I'd also say only kids attending the feeder schools can compete in Lex Cath middle school sports, this being because a kid in Versailles or Frankfort or even Richmond might want to play football but their feeder school doesn't offer it. This is my suggestion based off a couple others.
  22. I was gonna say, it hasn't been too long. W/ their district they usually get at least one a year.
  23. Not exactly right go to public/private forum for thread on situation. As far as I know currently, no player currently playing for the team is involved.
