  1. Well I knew about this very early yesterday and do know some of the situation. Sanctions should not affect this year's football team because the kid in question isn't at the school this year and didn't play for the team any this season. Still the school has admitted they gave financial aid wrongly though the reason is being stated as non sport related.
  2. Im not sure anything is official but he definately entered the game hurt and took a hit or something to cause him more pain. Hopefully he can pad it up next week.
  3. :dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa WOW!!!! For some reason I've had to wait till now to get on BGP but im here to say I feel like a proud papa currently. Im so proud of the Knights team right now words can't really describe my feelings. Still praise goes out to Highlands for a hard fought game. All I can say is that I wish I had been there. Will Osborne had a heck of a game from what I heard offensively and definately defensively. People knock the Knights D for being porous at times but I know the group has a lot of heart and im excited to hear they came out and played maybe the greatest defensive game in Knights history. What can you say about Burke? He didn't have his greatest game but he definately proved his heart last night. He was hurting going into the game and I've been told on his QB keeper he hurt himself worse yet he remained in the game the whole night and kept leading the team. UTB gets to watch the boys one more time at least this year!!!!
  4. Man I just looked at the LCA-Lex Cath thread from the first game and its hard to believe LCA has made it this far now and beaten a decent team on the way. Looks like LCA has really made the move towards an on the rise program, good luck to them.
  5. All I can say bout this game for the Knights is that UTB papa was over at the senior/starter dinner and he said the boys look focused and ready for tomorrow. I ain't one to make predictions but I sure would love to see this group of kids get the win. They are a gritty bunch w/ lots of heart. Good luck to Highlands but better luck hopefully for my Knights. (wish I could finally make a trip to Highlands to meet a lot of you Bluebirds fans)
  6. Should be fine for both teams. I found when I was playing, I rarely noticed how hot or cold it was once adrenaline kicked in. I'd say Lex Cath recievers will wear gloves, I've rarely known a reviever who doesn't anymore.
  7. I wish, but im gonna have to say I think Lex Cath-Highlands game will be pretty close.
  8. Man I forgot about him, another good speedster. Man I can't keep up w/ the younger guys anymore. Once this senior class is gone, I won't have played w/ anyone on the team.
  9. He means Ben Revere I believe and trust me, he is fastest. Usually the coaches time players preseason as well as various camps the players go to. The coaches were pretty accurate when I played there, I needed a sundial to determine my 40 time.
  10. Im sad im not going to get to see this game this week though on the plus side I will be attending the St Louis Desmet-Kansas City Rockhurst semifinals game for the state of Missouri. From what I hear Rockhurst is an absolute beast in football.
  11. I know they know it. I just hope they know it and say who cares because those numbers are the past and have no bearing on friday. I'll say it time and time again, the players shouldn't worry about the past, its the present that matters. Burke already has done one thing he has never done, lead a team to a regional championship game. Hopefully he can build on that, this kid is special and I think has the ability finally pull the team over this insurmountable hump.
  12. So this team should be held under the same standards as teams of the past? I think most people banked on Cov Cath's D stopping the Knights and a few people got shown wrong.(Before Sportz Addict mentions three TDs on 4th down, last I checked a score is a score no matter when you get it) I don't think anyone can just bank on their D stopping the Knights. Special Teams and Offense will be crucial for Highlands. Limit mistakes, eat up time, control field position all are huge factors this year for LC opponents. If the D has a huge stop or creates a turnover, its just icing on the cake. Im wishing both teams the best of luck but of course Im rooting for the Knights always. GO KNIGHTS
  13. No need to tell me Knights history, I played four years for them and three in middle school. Trust me, I think the curse is BS also, but I feel too many people put emphasis on it, all im saying is I hope the team doesn't.
  14. Your right about needing the run game tonight, when we did beat Cov Cath, I believe two tds were off the run game and we got almost 150 on the ground. It just opens a lot up for a QB when the other team is worrying about the running and passing game.
  15. Ha, yeah it was a fun game that I felt was very even. I know Cov Cath had some huge mistakes on our side of the field which eventually did them in. I have only seen the tape once, day after the game, its one I've always wanted to see again. I didn't remember the INT drop though im vaguely recalling it now.
  16. Hmmmm, playoff curse? The fact the Knights have never won a region and have lost twice in the playoffs to this team, including maybe the biggest shocker of my high school career the 2001 blowout to maybe the Knights best offense/defense balanced team ever. Doesn't help also that im hearing many parents are at LC are scared off this game. Trust my Knightsdad, from being in the locker room this time of year before, the team seems to let mind games get to them as much as anything. Im not saying the teams aren't better, I just feel sometimes ecspecilly early the Knights don't come out playing to their potential. I like to highlight the Highlands loss in '02 as an example where at halftime we are down 24-3 before a second half surge brought us back to even the score. That was a team which took too long early to get things going before finally showing they could compete.
  17. Was it really raining that game? I played a good amount in it and really can't remember the rain. I know it was cold though I had a nice bald head for that one.
  18. We beat Cov Cath Doss' senior year in the second round. On a late field goal, but we did win. Who knows who wins, I haven't seen Cov Cath play and I've only seen the Knights once. All I know is that if this offense plays the way it's capable of playing, I think Cov Cath is in for a rude awakening. I just hope the Knights don't let head games get to them.
  19. He is a small guy who is quick and powerful. The only game I got to see this year was against St. X and while Burke had a pretty good game, it was Israel by far who impressed me racking up some good yardage against a great Defense all night.
  20. Maybe boys soccer just needs to be classified Lexington/Louisville and Everyone else because that seems to be where the true domination is coming from.
  21. Im not gonna say the Knights win easy in this one I respect the Cov Cath program too much to even want to consider overlooking them. I do think if Lex Cath plays their game and doesn't let mind games get in the way of things they have a great chance of winning. I feel the senior leaders need to step up this week and really get this team to know they will win. This is ecspecially on the D. I want to finally watch the Knights friday after Thanksgiving play in a semifinal game.
  22. Congratulations to the Highlands girls, they took the game all the way to a Sudden Death shootout where Lex Cath finally succumbed making the Lady Bluebirds the State Champs for 2005. Hate to see the Lady Knights go down in such dramatic fashion but this season definately proved to be a great year for them and they really made an amazing run late in the season to get here. No reason to hang their heads.
  23. I'd agree, not to dog any of the Lex Cath goalies but their starter has been injured half the year with a torn ACL and I believe this may be the girl's first shootout of the season and maybe high school career.
  24. Its 2-2 in the past 5 years or so. One regular season win in 2000 I believe and a 2002 Lexington Catholic win in the playoffs while Cov Cath has a region title win in 2001 and a second round victory last year.
