  1. Per my parents who are good friends of the Breathitts she is most likely out the season. Six months rehab is about the minimum usually and that even depends on the full severity of the injury which I honestly don't know. With a college scholarship already on the way im not sure she'd wanna risk further injury late season if she did return.
  2. Katie Breathitt one of the twin duo of All State players from the Lady Knights had a pretty good knee injury this week while at a camp for Ole Miss where the girls have committed to play college soccer when they graduate. Katie and her sister Kelsey were a tough one two punch last year for this semifinal team and Katie led the Lady Knights in scoring last year. For a team in the top 5 preseason most likely this is a huge blow.
  3. Is this really rivalry worthy? Lex Cath vs Cov Cath? You are right, they may have the longest string of competitive head to head games for any Lex Cath opponent but I'd hardly call it a rivalry. Someone also mentioned Scott Co. which may actually be the closest thing to a rivalry Catholic has.
  4. One game maketh not even a potential rivalry. Lexington Catholic hasn't ever had a steady rival in football. Many could argue that Harrison Co. recently has been a rival but that has only been a recent thing. You'd only have to look back to '02 to see that that game hasn't always been close. Bourbon Co. even was a rivalry once, but their current gutter program also has nullified that sadly. Danville once was a great rivalry but their departure from our district ended that quickly. Boyle Co. had a great four game run with the Knights but a change in class ended those great games. A late goal line stand to Henry Clay rid Catholic of any chance to have a Lexington 4A city team rivalry. I can't come up with one solid team the Knights have managed to play consistently with competitive games.
  5. While I don't really agree with the fatigue comment either considering i've played in these events before and done six to seven games a few times in a day I will say that you're using a very misleading number in assuming that about 60 some players to 70 (the number was usually 75 or so when I played there) is made up of all guys that are skill players. Linemen do not compete in this event and don't even usually come out to these events. So there alone you lose about 30 some kids give or take. Then split the other groups of kids up into how many seperate teams Catholic had since usually they have always run multiple teams and suddenly you have even less numbers of players per team. Still, if fatigue sets in in these games, even with a good heat then I'd hate to see what two-a-days are gonna be like or even camp if Lex Cath still goes to one.
  6. Man, if Boyle Co. and Lex Cath can maintain their programs to the level of a few years ago then 4A fans are in for a fun football rivalry. Being a part of the '99 and '00 seasons when these two teams were 1 and 2 in 2A was simply awesome. Course it would have been better if we hadn't been #2 both years.
  7. Gosh I still remember the skinney kid who people used to think might only be the second best player in his family. Definately wanna see this kid make it someday.
  8. The KHSAA website said it was 10-0 Dunbar in 6 innings. Not bad for the Bulldogs.
  9. I'd say while a lot of people have PRP winning in this thread that Dunbar is still the favorite. They beat Lex Cath twice over the past month and that was no easy feat, especially considering they handed Maronde his first loss ever on a one hitter. Also Dunbar was the second best team in the state all year and did win the only head to head match up with PRP. I don't feel having a tough time with GRC should suddenly lessen Dunbar's chances in people's eyes. GRC had a great season and sounded like a tough team. When you get to this part of the season teams are giving you their best shot every game. While there is a myriad of teams that could win this tournament I'd say Dunbar still remains my favorite.
  10. Guess so, my dad said he'd call again if something happened and so far no calls. Wes had two strikes on him and two outs in the seventh. 2-0 PLD. Guilliani hit a two run shot for the only runs.
  11. 2-0 PLD still, bout over, Lex Cath had two outs and Caldwell up to bat last I heard.
  12. Looks like SLINK is right. Henry Clay was gonna have to score to win this one. 4-1 the final for the Knights. The biggest thing about this game is that Lex Cath got a solid performance from Champa and only had to use Maronde for two outs in the 7th. Sounds like the Knights and Bulldogs are lined up for a heck of a battle thursday.
  13. Word was that Lex Cath pitched Jordan Root today in the game against Franklin Co. No clue what the final is or if its even over but the Knights were up 6-1 after about 4 innings.
  14. I worked for St. Louis University's baseball team as a student trainer a few times this season and they talked about playing this kid. Said it was pretty wild and definately difficult with matchups. They did say he wasn't the most overwhelming pitcher they had seen but because he could switch which arm he threw with to each guy it did make him a bit more difficult.
  15. Lex Cath should be a fun team this year. They have the Breathitt twins who have both committed to Ole Miss. These two girls were tough last year when the Lady Knights went to the final four and they should be able to help the team reach the State Tourny again. The team also has some good young talent throughout.
  16. Its bound to happen when you have as good a teams in one district. How many districts can boast four teams that have made it to the State Championship in the past four years and three teams that have won a state championship?
  17. Good to hear, I might have to make it out for the district final this thursday.
  18. Any word yet on the score from this one? While Lexington Catholic swept the regular season series from Christian this is one and done time and anything can happen.
  19. I've seen Revere play a few times in both football and baseball and he is definately a talent. I haven't seen the Witten kid pitch but I from everything I have heard he is the real deal both pitching and hitting. Bottom line, two good players from Central Kentucky.
  20. So Althoff is in Belleville? If that is true the I may have to go to this game and watch my old high school team. Its about 20 miles from st. louis by the way. At least its around that from what I know when I take 64 between Lexington and St. Louis. .....and then I realize this is a Bluegrass Bowl game.....bummer
  21. I wasn't sure if you were serious. Its an odd choice to just not be able to stand from a personality and performance stand point but from a Kentucky killer standpoint he can frustrate me also.
  22. I did okay missing three games on my best bracket but I always wonder what I was thinking sometimes on my brackets. I always will fill one out online early as a first draft and then forget to go back and look at it later. Im still trying to figure out why I picked Albany over Virginia or Holy Cross over SIU. In another bracket I insanely thought Oral Roberts would win, I don't even think I realized Oral Roberts was in the Tourny.
