  1. They should be top 10 for beating Newport? I agree they should be a top 10 team but you cant solidify that by beating Newport. SK will make their way into the top 10 before the seasons done.
  2. Dixie Heights scrimmages Holy Cross tomorrow at 3 and NCC Saturday at 1. Both games at Dixie.
  3. I agree with you. Laumann and Sexton along with maybe Hempel are my top 3.
  4. So now that the season is about to start who is everyone's picks for player of the year for this season?
  5. How come no body is mentioning Will Farrells Jeapordy skits? Those were a riot.
  6. There is absolutely ZERO chance Harrison County will beat St. Xavier or Lex Cath this year. No way. St. Xavier is loaded with pitching and there lineup is solid. St. X with Matt Spalding on the hill will be near impossible to beat. Lex Cath with Arthur will be a tough task as well. Dont say anyone is a HANDS DOWN favorite to win the State Tournament unless the New York Yankees joined the KHSAA recently.
  7. Dixie has probably the nicest press box in NKY.
  8. Yes he is. But apparently after talking to Coach Maxwell at Dixie he has told me that Tim threw off the mound for the first time last Monday and was throwing VERY well. He could stress the word VERY enough. He also said Tim will be ready by opening day.
  9. Cory Abeling should have a strong season. I look for Popham and Dematteo to be a huge part in Dixie's success too. I would say Barnhorst would be the #2 in the rotation, have you seen the kid pitch. Probably in the top 3 pitchers in the NKY velocity wise. He also throws many strikies with good off speed. He held a very good Conner team last year to 1 run through 6 innings.
  10. I dont think this will even be nearly close at the end of the season. Beechwood is too high. I understand they are returning everybody but they literally have the exact same team as they had last year even though Larimore is back, he wont be able to be on the mound. NC should be #1. They will be the team to beat this year, their pitching is very good with Cain, Sullivan and Grey being the head of the rotation. Boone is too low also, they return the 9th region tournament MVP and a D1 signee in Laumann. Dixie is too low also. Even though they did lose Smallwood and several other seniors they will still be VERY good. Their JV team last year compiled a 21-6 record and you cant forget they still have IMO the pre-season pick for Player of the Year in Sexton. With Sexton, Popham, Dematteo, Riddle and Barnhorst coming back from last year they will still be very very talented.
  11. Thats what I was thinking. Unless in the summer he miraculously started humming then I dont know what they are thinking.
  12. He does not, I spoke with him today. He is missing an all girls freshman P.E. class for the Andy Furman show haha.
  13. I dont know why everyone insists that the kid is 6' tall. Im about 6-6'1" and he is about an inch taller than me. Anyone that has seen the kid play should know he is about 6'1"-6'2". At the BOK Center Thursday when they announced his name they announced he was 6'2".
  14. Goe is a very, very good kid and a great baseball player. But I have seen him throw on several occasions and honestly I didnt think he even threw 85 when I saw him. Dont get me wrong he is a heck of a pitcher but I dont think he has the velocity that Coach Sorge says. Anyways good luck to a great man and a GREAT student in the classroom.
  15. Hatton is averaging about 20 a game as a freshman. Imagine next year and the years to come. Come senior year he could very well be averaging 28-30pts. He still has some growing to do and he is flat out an amazement to watch.
  16. Dixie Heights should be in the top 25 next year along with being the #1 team in the 9th. They are losing only 1 starter and have a pretty good backup in Jordan Hassel filling in.
  17. Congrats to Jordan Martin for being on the Pre Season All-American team. He is the younger brother of Harrison County's and now University of the Cumberland's Jared Martin. For the ones who dont know who Jordan is, he is a sophomore from Harrison County High School and he started the state championship game last season as a FRESHMAN. Phenomenal baseball player.
  18. In NKY I would say the top 3 in no order are Tyler Sexton(Dixie Heights), Jake Cain(NCC), and Colin Johnson(Beechwood)
  19. Okay sorry for doubting you. I completely forgot about St. X. They have 1 WKU signee and 2 UK signees. going to have a great pitching staff with Spalding being the anchor. I have watched that kid play ball since he was about 10 playing with the Louisville Lightning. Great great great ball player and an even better kid.
  20. Sexton has been to a few showcases this offseason and according to the Dixie coaching staff he is averaging around 84-86. He has topped out at 89 Or 90 Great live arm. I would be willing to bet Cain is averaging around 85-88 topping out around 90 also. He also has a very live arm. Both great ball players and I wish them the best.
  21. Well of course. A nicely paved black top parking lot would have been an upgrade from that dirt field.
  22. I would like to know what team you were watching because that team in my opinion would be the favorite to win the state tournament with ease.
  23. I heard the same thing Marley. There will only be one other player in NKY in my opinion that will throw in the 80's CONSISTENTLY and that will be Jake Cain of NCC.
