I did not attend this game as I was at the Holy Cross vs. Beechwood game but I would assume that Jake Cain pitched for the Breds and Murray or Rizzo pitched for the Bluebirds.
You are correct. He is hitting over .500. Here are his stats I just pulled up for Hempel.

I said that again comment because Beechwood beat them when it mattered. I could care less if my team gets beat 99 times as long as we win that one game that matters.
With all the respect for all the players mentioned, I have watched all of the young men play. I have noticed that with Sexton from Dixie that when he goes so does the team. You can say that with the other players but with Sexton hitting I think last said around .459 with 15 doubles and with a low era and with the loses he has had he has not had any run support. He pitched the 6 plus innings after Smallwood against Cov Cath and only got 1 run against Holy Cross pitching 7 innings there giving up 3. I think he has my nod for the POY with the young man from Holy Cross a close second along with Cotton. Just my thoughts.
Dixie didnt have a problem hitting him under the lights at Meinken. Beechwood will be just fine.
TOG dont you worry. The last thing we would want to see is the Tigers to beat the Colonels AGAIN.
Now that the regular season is complete and we got to see every team up here, what are the teams we think we will see in the regional tournament on Memorial Day?
Great game by both teams on both teams Senior Night. Dixie Heights had their Senior Night lineup out there through 5 innings. Good game pitching by John Bjuirquist(Sp?) of Cooper. The Colonels hit the ball very hard but it was just right at people.
Win- Sexton
Lose- Bjuirquist
I agree with that about Cov Cath, however, even though Dixie's JV lost in the 1st round of JV tournament they have several good young pitchers in Stansberry and Sexton. Yes younger brothers of Brett and Tyler on the varsity and several very good outfielders.
Against better competiton Smallwood has and will use his offspeed. Against Southern I recall him using plenty offspeed. Why use offspeed if its not needed because nobody through the lineup can hit the fastball? Like against Cov Cath Friday, 11 K's.
