  1. I don't think you can hold someones record at Dayton against them, Steve Lickert wasn't exactly setting the world on fire there and he has done great. Coaches shouldn't be punished for coaching in tough jobs. Chances are nobody would have done much better there.
  2. I think with the exception of Paris right now that Brossart will be in a very competitive district. Good to see things going in the right direction!
  3. Blocking and Tackling, such a novel idea, We want to read about the Earth Scorcher offense!, Good Read!
  4. I hear he went to Covington Catholic as an Assistant. Probably a step up.
  5. I honestly think Mayfield has been just good enough to get past Beechwood the past few years, Beechwood has great kids and they are going to be the class of 1A in the next four years. I don't see anybody else being at that level, maybe a Raceland or Pikeville will challenge but it will be hard for them to match the Tigers. IMO, I thought Beechwood was better than Mayfield this year but just didn't get it done in the big game. Coach Rash does a great job up there!
  6. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Tigers get 4, I think 3 is a safe bet. I thought they were the best team in 1A this year but didn't get it done.
  7. I'm going to say that he had external pressure somewhere, surely this decision wasn't just made by himself at the end of February.
  8. I'm guessing Johnny and Jimmy thought they would be better playing the scorched earth offense instead of the Wing T and the only thing holding them back was Coach Fields in their parents mind, that's usually how these things work.
  9. Highlands kids living in Ft. Thomas? No way, everyone knows they are bused in from Cincinnatti every morning. :thumb:
  10. That is just you're opinion of his coaching ability, let's all remember, the guys that dedicate their life to the sport are the guys that know the least, right? Not fair at all to bash guys at the high school level who make pennies and do it for the love of the game. Ultimately, every one has an opinion, whether it's justified or not. I have no horse at all in this race and would need a map to find Greenup County but I have never once heard ESPN discuss Greenup County Basketball on under total anonymity, probably because it's just high school basketball in Kentucky, College/Pro guys making millions should be critiqued a little harder than the local guy who probably teaches a full load of classes all day then goes to practice.
  11. Im guessing it was either Johnny or Little Jimmy :thumb:
  12. Best of Luck to Larue! Was this in the making before Jaggers was let go?
  13. I think it comes down to coaching when the talent is even, If their's is that much better than yours, then as a coach there is not alot you can do, there's a lot of schools in the state when the athletes just aren't there to compete at a high level, you can have a class comes through every few years that can compete but its hard to sustain no matter who the coach is. I may be wrong, but I heard that Dale Mueller even had a losing record at a school in Ohio, surely that guy can coach a little.
  14. I'am not sure if he was let go, or if he is even gone, I was thinking if he's out its on his own accord.
  15. Poynter is a heck of a ball coach and has proved that at all his stops, He has done it being 4 wide, A11, Double Tight, The dude can coach it.
  16. I agree. It would be a tough proposition to use anything other than male enrollment. There are always going to be schools that have inherent advantages, the playing field will never be exactly level.
  17. The coach there took over a team was 13-79 from 2003-2012, six of those thirteen wins came in 2011 when BC had several kids transfer in from out of state. He's won over half that amount of games in three years and he virtually keeps that program running by himself up there. His teams have been the most successful at the school and broken every statistical school record, I doubt he's going anywhere, I have coached with and against the coach at Bracken, he is a class act.
  18. Congrats to the birds! I was at the game and was very impressed.
  19. I think that pretty much sums it up for small rural county schools. Kids in these counties are sometimes commuting 20+ miles to school from practice, if mom and dad are working jobs that's a tough commute. Also, many kids in these small rural counties that are generally lower on the socioeconomic scale have to start working jobs and struggle to find time for football. In communities such as Bracken there is a struggle to find knowledgeable coaches because there is no tradition of playing football locally, the head coach will usually have a job in the district but the only way you can bring in assistant coaches is with teaching positions. If I am not mistaken the coach at Bracken is the only coach in the building and has had limited help running the program. These are common problems in counties like Bracken, guys in these positions have my respect.
  20. C-Ville has a nice team this year and will be too much for the Lions.
  21. Bracken will be starting 5 Freshmen, 5 Sophomores, and 1 Junior. They have to be one of the youngest teams in the state. Bracken has fought hard all season despite their youth.
  22. The Panthers will be too much for Eminence this year. Who will be in the new district with Frankfort?
