Here's the problem...to be the Best, you have to play and Beat the Best...if you meet the best in the first round, and win, then you should have no problems. Why should a team be entitled to play the "least best" in a grouping, if ultimately they have to beat everyone to be considered "the best" ? The flawed logic is that seeding v non-seeding makes less difference to a team that has less talent also less important to win....that's why a predominate Bracken County argument exists in this situation. Bracken is concerned with drawing Mason in the first round of sport X and someone else getting a "free pass"....they do not seem to be as concerned about a similar benefit for their route to "the best". Play the Best. Win. Be the Best. Irrespective of who is in your way, Win, and you are most definitely, The Best.

Would having been there change the position that a player should never say anything to an opposing player ?

In fairness, some middle school games are way more brutal than most high school games, so I can understand some of that maybe...on the other hand, I also know some who fit this bill to a "T" ...:clap:

This is on the coaches....they have the ability to rate officials, every year, as well as a phone number / email to those officials assignors if they have concerns. If they are really concerned, they can go to BOC about it.... To my point, fans are almost always way more concerned about officials than coaches are, or the coaches are not using the conduit provided them for their concerns.

You are probably reading too much into what you think about how this incident was a "T". I'll agree with Clyde, you get in someone face after a play, it's taunting, and there is zero tolerance. I will bet that in this case, this particular player may have been discussed in pre-game....... Players, coaches and fans need to understand "fuse length" is not a factor...but there are rules and points of emphasis, and that's how the game is managed and demanded to be managed by those that interpret and dictate rules. The life lesson is easy....play the game, keep your mouth in check, you get to keep playing....

Didn't see this coming….this was a 6 point game in 3rd frame. CCHS defense stoned Paris last night. Paris unable to get CCHS defense off center on their motion offense…and it would appear that was the game difference. Huge shout out to Joel Day….this kid put clutch together all night…the back to back 3's late in 3rd (I believe) was the end IMO. Strong with the ball, head up, and took the shots when they presented. Bertsch is much, much stronger around the rim than in previous years and Hegyi was beast mode all night.

I would reiterate what some others have said on here: it's easy to see what you see outside the lines, and easy to pass judgement on some grainy video...... If you weren't between the lines, and none of you were, then you don't know what other actions may have transpired the other 30+ minutes of the game, and certainly can't tell what happened at point of interruption.

Very entertaining game all around. Russell from Magoffin can load it up from about anywhere on the floor. Reminds me of BBHS' Nathan Seiter, absolute pure shooter.

I saw Jake Martin play once this year, after hearing about him for the past few years. He is, as delivered, one of the hardest hitting kids I have seen in a while. He unloaded on a little come back block and I swear the kid was picking up his cleats as he wandered off the field. As a player for BBHS he added so much more value to the overall team, one could only wonder what he would have produced in a more established program. This is not a knock on BBHS at all. Jake's upside potential is through the ceiling IMO. If BBHS gets a few more through the program like him over the years, life will be good at the ranch. Congrats Jake Martin on an outstanding career and setting the bar high. No doubt that someone will stand on your shoulders to better this program in the future.

This is the Dale Mueller philosophy...when the other team essentially "concedes" and pulls their starters, then you pull yours. I think the problem is when a team is up by (insert any running clock margin here) and they aren't using the game time constructively to get better. For instance, team is up by 40+ in a basketball game, but is tipping out / running out for FB layups, rather than working a half court offensive set. How does that make either 1) the team better, 2) the other team better or 3) the game better ?

There is not "step and a half" nor is there any "Euro Step" defined anywhere in the NFHS rules. Whether this move is a walk is entirely dependent on when the ball is gathered, where the pivot foot is at that time, when the pivot foot leaves the floor and when the ball leaves the shooters hand. Fans who don't like the walk call tend to believe that a player is allowed a "step and half", most officials can understand the sequence just fine.

The second gym at the middle school is a little rough, the main gym at the high school is pretty large. My guess is that this was pure logistics simplification. I also believe that these tournaments are run by the high school teams as fundraisers so they are running them at high school
