  1. Why only if a blind draw ? Why not make it allowable to not play any district opponent, even if seeded ? Just use W-L record. Your statement seems to have a punishment factor in it....not sure why
  2. :thumb: Just use this one !
  3. ...at least a few of these out there
  4. Never ? :taz:
  5. Really ? Is it the word "clearly" that's tripping you up or the final box score ? Just curious about this one......
  6. This is the most circuitous thread I've seen in a long time....but mostly just a Chip Gregg thread .....:lol2:
  7. Here's the problem with your analogy: Your baseball example is the actual location of 1 object in a defined area, the strike zone. The basketball example involves 2 people, typically in some form of movement, and the ball and a decision about when and where each of those 3 are at the decision point. It's easy in baseball, it's a ball or a strike....not so much in basketball, mostly because of all the additional variables to consider at that moment of decision.
  8. ….but I've seen a few….
  9. Only you could turn a BBHS Senior Night Win somehow into a CCHS post…..keep it classy A-Town Bandit….. #humblebrag
  10. To be blunt....wrong. It is, and in fact can be, a simultaneous. The 3rd official has nothing to do with this play at all and certainly should never be the ultimate judge and jury hearing testimonials.
  11. We are ALWAYS about what is fair to both defender and offensive player. Officiate the defense...the rest takes care of itself. Most of what you described is neither legal guarding position nor good defense....I get what you are saying about past years', I appreciate that for what it was...but Naismith started with a peach basket and we didn't keep that either.....
  12. Trail official should not have been looking at that play....not at all in his primary coverage area. BTW folks, it's not a "vote", it's a discussion on what was seen at the time of the event.
  13. Disagree....it was exactly in between lead and slot primary coverage area...I will agree that it originated from Lead and the error here, in my opinion, was both officials coming out with a call and not a clock stoppage mechanic. I also think that the slot should have let Lead take it all the way...
  14. There is a group of girls right now at Dayton that are getting it done. Many of these girls play softball and that program is rising.....love to see this, small schools have it tough and when they stick together great memories can be created. Congrats to both schools...
  15. That disadvantages a good defensive player in legal guarding position. How is that fair to a good defender ?
  16. Which is why an official doesn't "listen" for the horn, but obtains and angle and watches the clock and release...there is a delay... and if for some reason, the auto horn is not set, you have a problem. Cannot rely on horn as the indicator.
  17. Possibly. I believe if you are aware of the game situation, and you call what you see (there is an assumption built in) then you probably should have "something". It would appear that this was a strategy not well executed by W-Town. The less obvious delay would be to tap the ball away from both the inbounding player and any official....it becomes more obvious at that point. It takes either a lot of discipline to not blow the whistle, or a complete lack of game situation to not blow the whistle. Hard to tell which occurred here.
  18. Since you obviously have this 100% correct and have resorted to name calling, it has become apparent that you are the smartest person to ever open a case book. You cared not to read the replies, but only wanted to view the coin from your side. What we know about the clock, according to the post, is that one team scored with 7.2 seconds left on the clock and picked the ball up and did not immediately tap or throw to an official. Ignoring is the best game management, strict rule interpretation does not add value....all things I said during this thread. I could only assume that you either: 1) worked this game or 2) know someone who did. I agreed with what the officials did, you brought a case study about a boundary plane violation into the mix and then began to call names. You seem to have a vast knowledge of the rules and access to a case book, might I suggest that you pay for a Premium Membership and add value to everyone else who reads these, rather than ride for free and fire at will. Your attitude toward everyone is telling....Have a great post - season.....:deadhorse:
  19. Did you miss the part that said 5 seconds or less ? Clock was at 7 seconds.... Additionally, the "However,".... part of this rule supersedes the prior violation. If there are 5 seconds or less, you ignore, unless the delay causes the opposing team to be unable to in bound the ball, then it's a T irrespective of any warning or violation.... Don't parse your rules....
  20. Proper positioning for the final shot is the answer you are looking for here. Angles, angles, angles....
  21. Not true, this was not a boundary violation. It was a delay of game. By rule, a Technical foul could have been called, but in this case it would have had no bearing on the final outcome
  22. The inverse is true: by not calling a delay, they penalize the strategy. As soon as the opposing player has secured the ball, not tapped through the net, and that player does not immediately pass it or tap it to an official, it is a delay. Irrespective of intention, that's a game management situation.
  23. This is great coaching by both coaches IMO, but not that great on the administration end. I will assume W-Town was out of time outs, and as such, if I'm coaching and we need a stoppage, I'm telling my player to pick up the ball. Likewise, if I'm BC and know that situation, I tell my kids to not pick it up and risk the delay, because time is my enemy at that point. I'm sure Hinson was on top of this one. As I like to say, preventative officiating gets this cleaned up. Know the game situation and the likely scenarios....this one was pretty easy, and appears to be questionable. It would not be unheard of for a coach to tell an official they were going to delay, assuming they had not been warned during the game previously.
  24. Nobody rang your bell...stop T- rolling everyone on this thread. No answer is good enough. Go find another thread to stalk....your time here has worn itself completely through... Nobody has your answers... :deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse:
  25. I thought @theguru was going to close this thread down, as the questions had been answered ? Now at post #237, @lawildcat, I thought you took care of this ?!
