  1. Our stat guys had 19 out of 31 baskets with assists. Machinot with 6 and 2 turnovers. Gutty performance with the thigh bruise from the HHS game. Game time decision to start him. Very wise to do so. I agree Hudy's best game of the year. He's filled his role very, very well for this team. Hard for a senior who started games last year to be so deep on the bench, he's a model for how to handle that. Busts his butt.
  2. Turning point in the game was the beginning of the 2nd half with the Colonels leading by 11 and Jake Thelen had only 6 points. Coach Shumate decided Jake was the guy to stop tonight. He came out in a box and 1 chasing Jake. Thelen got a stick back and the Colonels hit back to back 3's. Time out Beechwood and back to the man-to-man. Game over.
  3. Machinot had 9 and Baker 8. Massie, Hayden and Arnzen each had 4, Hudy 2 and Ward 1. Bench points 25-2 in favor of CCH.
  4. Not all CovCath players were there and Coach L was stuck in Wilder.
  5. Does this night remind you of a night in park hills a couple of years ago??? LOL
  6. The game between CovCath and Beechwood will be played Saturday at 7:00.
  7. Awful and makes me sick to hear it. Super nice kid.
  8. Funny you should say that. In one picture it has Connelly from CCH and Crowley from HHS. They got the numbers mixed up and said it was Luke Turner and Nick Fredrick. I would have thought that the son of former Enquirer legend political writer Pat Crowley would have gotten more love.
  9. Well, it was rare to score more than 48 this year. LOL
  10. Spoken like only a true Bluebird fan about a CovCath team. Machinot is 5'7" and Riedenger is 6'-0". Towles may not have started but he played half the game on Thelen. The Colonels stopped Thelen by not getting him a touch every trip down. Highlands did not stop Thelen. Baker made every shot he took and Connelly was 5 for 7 inside the arch for 10 points. Thelen goes 12 for 20 and you're not impressed. Funny.
  11. Hostile environment and it's CovCath Highlands. I'll take a 13 point win. CovCath won both halves, but this game was won in the 3rd quarter when CovCath outscored the Bluebirds 17-6.
  12. Most under rated shooter in the region after seeing him tonight. He used to be a player that hung around the arc. Now he's working his butt off. He was sick all weekend and it showed at the end. Jake Thelen is the best player in the region. He's first in scoring, 2nd in rebounding and 7th in assists in all of NKY. Highlands decided to not double him and it cost Drew Baker some points and Jake some assists, but Drew still changed the game with his inside play on defense. He alters shots every time someone is in the lane.
  13. Talk about a tough schedule, CovCath has 4 games in their schedule against the top 7 and 5 of the top 11 teams in this poll. Wow.
  14. Let me join the party, stop by the booth and say hi!
  15. Here's the links to our games. In case anyone cares, we'll be doing the JV game as well as the varsity. Click here.
  16. Anyone bored at work and want to treat yourself to a classic in this series, here's the 2008 CCH/HHS game featuring Simpson, McGraw, Grimes, Maile, Shover, Noll, Schmerge, Roll. Sold out at CCH and you can feel the electricity. Click here.
  17. My son a 2008 graduate of CCH confirmed that the Highlands game, from a student's perspective, was the biggest rivalry in the region. It's Highlands he said and they brought a bigger student section than any other school. The hate between these two schools is off the charts.
  18. Nic Simpson, McGraw, Vories. Some solid players the past few years. This is always a dog fight and I expect nothing less Tuesday night.
  19. Two reasons why this is a big rivalry. The two schools in all sports is Yankees/Red Sox. This will be one of the best battle of the student sections of the year. I remember when the doors closed at CCH during the JV game a few years back. That is rare these days. The other reason is the fact that CovCath has knocked Highlands out of the 9th pretty many times under Coach L. It's not as big as Holmes in terms of getting to the region and Rupp, but it's as big as it gets during the regular season. The place will be rocking.
  20. Swear on my voice that I never one time saw Justin Doellman or Brock play a high school game. As I said, I had other things to do. Saw one CovCath game the year they went to the semi finals of the state in 2004. Ran girls baskeball at St. Pius, had 2 kids playing ball and did PA for Thomas More. No face to save. I 100% stand by what I said about Geisler. The kid is athletic. I am funny, but you're way off on this one.
  21. Hey Big Shot, my original comment was he's the most athletic big man I can remember. Since I did not see them play in the 9th, I guess that means I can't remember them.
  22. Any information on this game? How many did Behanon have?
  23. Not sure how many points Jake had his sophomore year, which was ended early with a broken elbow, but my guess is he's about 150 away from 1000.
